Slash Scout Template...

This is the best I have come up with so far for my Slash Scout (Spec: 45 LB, 42 Shield, 35 Stealth, 30 Slash)...opinions?

Nice Dex and STR overcap, ok-ish resists, but...

Last time I checked putting hits and CON on your weapon and shield is Bad (note the capital B ;) ) Low Quickness also isn't so good. I notice your ranged config has only +2 Archery speed over your Melee config, what bow are you using? Maybe something like Braggart's or Fool's might be better (Fool's giving you a little extra quickness too).

Why is putting Hits and Con on my weapon bad? It makes perfect sense to me, if I melee then I need all the help I can get :)

This template uses Braggarts (Fools has no Dex cap), and I accept your comment about the Archery bonuses, but something really has to give. It's impossible (or I have found it to be so certainly) to make a template that has > 95 Dex, > 95 Str, decent Con, good resists (the resists in this template are great except Matter, better to gimp Matter then Energy IMHO).

I would like some extra Qui in there but just can't fit it in without sacrificing something else :(

Cos you lose the hits when you swap weapons, and then have to heal them up naturally.

What you want depends on your playstyle. If mainly using bow, then dex, qui and archery bonuses are must have. If mainly melee, then you'll want str, con, qui, hits, melee resists and melee bonuses. If both, you want a balance.

A number of scout templates I've seen now gimp spell resists, as they figure they'll be dead to casters anyway.

Yes, the problem with that is?

If I'd described it as a melee Scout then I could understand your post :)

I described it as a Slash Scout so people would immediately understand why I've gone 100 Str in template ;)

You MAY be ok if there are the same bonuses on both weapons.

Basically when you gain the con/hits on swapping in one with those bonuses on, your max hits goes up, but current hits doesn't change. It's the same as when you get buffed, which you must have noticed <grin>.

um... yes? why not?
It´s not gonna be a melee Scout, but 29 (30) slash is ok-ish with Battler/Malice.

I have noticed but never thought about it really. I just heal him with BB and go off to get pwned :)

As for the bow, I think you are missing a few of its bonuses off in your report, Braggart's also has 4 Archery damage and 4 Archery range at level 6 and 9 respectively (Just a guess, hard to be sure without the items to check against. With 8 Range and 10(11) damage it looks good template, if only you could fix the Hits/CON thing :)

I would also be wary of DR just around the corner, the CL weapon is similar to Braggart's, but slightly better imo (3 more +dex cap).

when swopping from bow to malice I lose 5% of my HP.

@ Crocky why should he roll infi if he wants to melee?

cap quickness, u need 250 buffed. take your base quickness without any + to quickness on your scout, which for a briton scout is 83 if u didnt put any +qui at creation, add 93 (spec dex) = 176. now take the amount u want (250) and minus 176 and u get the golden number, which is 74, which is how much u need in your template (64 if u put 10 in creation, or maybe more if u are inconnu/highlander)

Looks better, its a shame Malice has hits and con on but I agree its a great weapon for a Slash scout for the proc and arrogance alone.

Still think you have got some stats missing on your Braggarts Bow in your template maker (see my post above).

I see also that you are missing +shield and still a little qui, but its tough to cap it all. I notice you have some +stealth crafted onto your shield, maybe you could put this elsewhere (stealth also reducing your chance to drop out of hiding when lining up a shot/critshot) and place a little +shield there?

Just a bit of guesswork, its hard to offer anything firm without seeing the items.

I know mate, that's why I have to have it. With only 43 Slash (inc RR & SC) I need all the extra help I can get.

You Sir, are a steely eyed missile man - thank you! I am using Loki with the database files from Erinthag's Workshop, and clearly the Braggart's one is wrong because the only ToA bonus it displays is 2% Archery Speed. I'll have another go and see if I can improve it.

The +Stealth on the shield is because it's a drop mate, the Enchanted Runed Defender. I could use crafted, but it's a quite high util item.

Making this Scout template is a nightmare, have spent almost 3 full days now ptrying different things in Loki and I still haven't got anything I am 100% happy with :(

Right, I think this one is much better :)

I have 101 Dex, 75 Qui with bow out and +11 Stealth whether I am in bow or S&S. Still dropping hits during the switch, but that's Malice I'm afraid :(

Is this one a keeper do you think?

I've had a play with Loki and can have found I can get around the problem of dropping Hits and Con when switching combat modes by moving resists to my crafted Shield.

This will give me 80 Con and 240 Hits in S&S and 71 Con and 200 Hits with Bow out.

Obviously during bow use my resists drop a fair bit. Is this acceptable?

I can't really see any other way around it :(
