Had this conversation with some random person on the train, so thought i would see what the peverse world of FH has to say

There is a show on C4 called skins which i watched on 4oD yesterday.
For those who have not seen it, it's basically a soap (like the OC, hollyoaks and those types of things) but with underage kids (the looked around 13-16) fucking, taking drugs and drinking to excess.

Now what i don't get is, who is the target market?
The program is aired after the watershed (11pm) so there shouldn't be any kids around, and even if there were no responsible parent would let them watch it as i cant think of a worse set of role models
so it can't be aimed at them.
No adult would watch that crap as the show is really awful and borderline paedophilia to be quite honest, i suppose if you were stoned enough it may be entertaining but most things become bearable when you are high

29, finland, loved the first season. Never done any drugs.

It's an entertaining show, with different then usual problems in the basic OC style. Where OC was about the rich world, this is more of the "youth world". Both have entertaining features and comedy.

I don't think it's about rolemodels, but about reality of things.

When the first season came out it seemed like it almost had a cult-status for those between 18 and early 20's. I was hooked on it.

Unfortunately the second season got too deep and dramatic and i lost interest. Haven't bothered looking at the third series because of that.

To be fair i am basing this on one episode, for all i know there might be some descent underlying storyline
But the one i watched (there is a school election or something, and it ends in there being a riot in the school while teachers stand and watch), seemed to have very little in terms of reality embedded in it.

But you cant catogorize a show on one episode, after all i may have just picked a crap one

Just about everyone above 15 or even younger, prolly up to like 20ish is constantly going on about this shit these days.

Like others I completely lost interest after the first series, s2 was bloody awful and I don't have a good enough word to describe 3. Watching a couple of extreme stereotypes, being super cool and shit, what a pile of wank.

I didn't say they weren't, simply that they shouldnt be so wouldnt be regarded as a target audience by the writers etc (at least i wouldnt think so anyway, but i am probably wrong)

Its on a 10PM in the UK its watchable the second season was crap but now they have gone back to excess and funny stories for most of season 3 it is ok. I watch it because most of it is funny and if a tv show can make me laugh then why not.

Didn't like series 1. Crap writing and crap acting. Series 2 I thought was really good. The actors had come on a lot, and the stories were much better, I liked the drama.

Series 3 has had it's moments, episode 4 i think was really good, but it's been mostly crap.

I've watched all series.
Must admit I've found Series 3 the most hit and miss. One really shite episode, some ok, a couple brilliant. I watch it because it is funny, interesting and good entertainment. Panda is my favorite this time round. If you are watching a program based on being a teenager of course its going to centre around sex, drugs, love and angst- as thats what constitutes being a teenager isn't it?

Never been into Skins, but picked up on this series one day when I was bored, so went through the available episodes on 4oD.

Now I catch it every week when shown on E4, im 25 and can relate to some things on their when i was in my college years.
Find the show a good laugh and fairly entertaining, especially the character Cookie, most people must've had mates like that

i think its aimed at young adults kind of 18-20 ish, i liked season one, others i didnt and stopped watching. Main reason I watched it as was set in bristol and you see the cast out all the time in clubs/bars and even filmed a bit where i lived so that was cool but like i said gone off it now.

Utter bollocks. Truly apalling acting, rubbish storylines, throw-away characters you couldn't care less about. The sort of thing hoodies enjoy watching. Think you have to be about 14 years old to get it.
