Here is my go at a Cheap Skald template.
I know it doesn't max everything and doesnt have caster bonuses but I have limitied Cash and am using a lot of stuff that I have been able to pickup easily and cheaply.

Please critique and offer any useful advice or cheap upgrades.

I havent got the SC done yet so am not actually running this because I think it needs some improvements.

The below is with Dragonstorm equipped but for 1h i'm currently running with a weapon and shield that provides +20% Healing which seems to work quite well with Heal Song and the Ablative Chant. It only really sacrifices STR for the extra survivability.

Also dont have a Myth equipped as I dont really know much about them and not sure what would be useful for a Skald.
I don't Solo due to noob skills and low RR and prefer running with FGs and the occasional Zerg if there is one knocking about.

you not using DS or Sigil armor? cause i cant find any 5th stat bonus from ur crafted parts anywhere, helps quite abit

Not really sure what I could lose to squeeze in some points of Parry.
Spec wise my Parry is pretty low anyway, only 18 pts so not sure how much of a difference that would make.


Figured out how to include the 5th Stat bonuses on Korts :) so here is the slightly adjusted version.

If anyone has any better ideas for the SC'd gear in this Template please let me know, the help would be much appreciated.

Have you looked at the Dragonslayer armour? You can buy 150 scale from housing (be careful not to buy the crafter scale ingredient people try and sell) for a couple of plat, or farm it in the Dragon zone Malmohus(sp?) or whatever its called.
Once you have the scales, go see the dragonslayer npc in Jordheim (by the /20 armour npc's) and buy the stone which costs 150 scales (on the last page iirc)

Then you go to the dragon town and do a quest which involves killing 4 green cons. You become neutral so you can enter the town. You pick up a quest which basically says "give us the stone, and choose 1 piece of armour.

Just to say, my skald has +11 parry, plus RR6, plus 18 parry in my spec and Master of Parry 2 or 3. I parry shit tons! It's your defense so I'd try and cap it...unless you plan to play in full groups all the time.

www. seusx .com or game 8 3 8 (google them). You can buy 100 plat for about £10-15.

Oh Winged Helm is very nice for a skald playing solo/duo/trio.

Priority for Skald Stats, I was thinking it would be something along the lines of :-

STR - melee damage
Weapon Skill - melee damage
Resists - damage reduction
Con - more HP
Hits - more HP
Cha/Acuity - for increased Shout damage
Quickness - increase swing speed

I'm probably missing lots of options here but i'm happy to learn :)


Ofc I suppose this would depend on your role but i was thinking in 8 man i would be more of an interrupter and an annoyance for enemy healers.
My melee damage doesn't seem that strong so i'm not sure I would be able to take people down quickly enough.

Also in groups is it worth running the Ablative and Heal Song if I have a +20% bonus to healing?

You should be running all your chants in combat. Use a G15 keyboard or macro program.

Fight a skald who has this. Do no styles or spells, just use shaman buffs and let's say run dmg add+end reduction. Get the other skald to use his macro chants (no styles or dd's). just use anytime swing and watch how much more awesome he is.

I understand this is meant as helpful advice and i'm not having a pop at you for the advice you are offering :)

So basically you are saying Cheat?
These things are against the rules, right?

So, if i dont do this and so many other do why even bother with a template as its never gona be on even terms...
If you were meant to have all the Chants running then it would be allowed as standard within the game.

Sorry, may seem pompous but I dont see the point of cheating at something like this. You aren't proving anything by beating people when you are cheating.
Then again I guess ppl still do Cross Realming as well - another pointless exercise just to get an advantage.
It will always happen because all some ppl care about is winning :(

The good guys never win when it comes to computer games :(

Skalds are not that hard to play, however lets look at you trying to do the following;

Melee styles/positionals/re-actionaries
DD's, snare, mezz
Speed
Dmg Add with Celerity
Ablative
Heal Song
Power Song
End reduction

Now even if you had enough space on your main quickbars for all the chants you use in combat, the amount of buttons you need to press is insane. I know Pep in guild used the /qbind (built into the game) feature to bind u i o p to his chants, but it's still a pain in the ass to do.

People cheat in daoc 24/7 - think of all the run throughs for side/back stun, or the lag jumps to get back up to the top of your DF steps. People are hiding ress/heal bots in the walls in DF at the moment!

At the end of the day, having a program to twist chants is wrong. I played a Paladin on EU and fuck me the amount of twisting drove me mad! But if everyone does it now days via a program/keyboard, why miss out? It's not like you are cheating and gaining 500 extra strength or flying etc.
