Well, it's not cricket.

Don't get much rugby around here, but that's cause people like the padded sissy sort a lot more. Actually don't get much of nansyball either.

Hmm...

"France is the next obsticle."

This made my day though.

True 5-10 years ago not now though. Having watched Leeds V Wigan the other day I would say the skill levels are about the same at the top levels.

I watch and enjoy both codes :)

Nope, rugby league. And considering ive played both to a good standard, i can honestly say union is boring and skilless.

Id rather have Charlie Hodgson, Johnny Wilkinson or Olly barkley running at me then someone like Danny McGuire, Richie Mathers or Jamie Lyon :D

Yeah right, I like watching men hump the floor everytime they get tackled as well.

You pick 3 small specialist players of which Wilko is the only one who tackles well. I wonder how many would like Lewsy, Dallaglio or Moody running at them. If your gonna compare, at least do it sensibly. Union has specialist players for which smaller and more agile is a benefit. You don't need that in the other code.

Your original comment was regarding skill level, I take it you conceed that point as you have not bothered continuing the discussion point? ;)

Compare sensibly? All 6 i mentioned are backs. Hodgson, WIlkinson both fly halves, compared to McGuire a stand off and mathers a full back (one who always attacks the line). Lyon and Barkley both centres. As for Lewsy Dallaglio or Moody, i, like most rugby players of either code, prefer the bigger, taller players running at you than the smaller more agile ones as they are far more easier to tackle. So I really cant see what point you are trying to make :s

As for skill levels, well, where shall we start. I know. 2 years ago, Bradford played a bruising top of the table clash vs st helens on the friday night.. 1st place vs 2nd place. An absolute gem of a game it was. They travel down overnight and walk the middlesex sevens, beating the best the guinezzzzz premiership had to offer. I remember one team saying "we are going to show Bradford how to play", only to admit after an arse kicking that bradford were superior in every way.

ENgland rugby union team trained with Leeds Rhinos last season. The england team said in the press they couldnt believe how fast and skillfull the Leeds Rhinos were. Kevin Sinfield was quoted as saying he felt the exercise was pointless.

Need I carry on?

You seem to have missed the point, probably my fault. What I meant was that union has far more specialised roles to which guys of certain physic are suited. So comparing smaller union guys was not really a fair comparison due to the way the games are played. Wilko and co are not going to run in to a pack of bigger players, its not their job. The guys that perform that kind of role in union are the guys like Moody and Dallaglio.

I respect both codes but having watched both I don't see a massive difference in skill levels that you seem to. If you had have seen the Northampton v Saracens game the other day you would have seen a fantastic open running game, union at its best. The passing and judgment (quick thinking) was superb. In comparison to the Leeds v Wigan game I saw on the same day it was much better. Leeds especially were poor in the first half with far too many tactical errors and their ball handling was very poor. But I'm not going to judge Union & League on one game. I will continue to watch both with interest as a rugby fan.

I think the point was that France is the only real obstacle in Englands way to another Grand Slam ;) If I was a betting man I would not put my money on Scotland. However, on the day given right conditions (pissing down) Scotland could prove a handful. They've done it in the past.

Scotland are at home.
