OK, Newcastle have gone a bit stale, but this is not Robson's fault. Its the EGO of tynesyde Shearer that causes problems. A player should never have so much influence, especially when he is past his prime.

I really hope if shearer takes the reigns that he fails badly.

If I was Rooney I wouldn't want to go to Newcastle now either.

It isn't Shearer that's the problem it's the chairman. Since he decided that he was going to replace Bobby Robson at the end of this season he has pretty much been trying to run the club himself. Making all the transfer decisions and basically not allowing SBR to do his own job.

They'll get a fairly big manager probably, but only because they'll pay a lot of money but in the shape the club is in right now, I wouldn't like to take over.

I heard Houllier pipped as a potential temporary replacement. I for one hope he does take over - I've missed trying to figure out the madness in his eyes in post-match press conferences.

I didn't really see a problem with Bobby Robson.. although he always seemed to be very patient and sometimes overly so.. He didn't seem to do all that much so far this season and not much towards the end of last season either... when he first came he turned the club right around but it's gone a bit stale since then.

Great shame, that's three of the biggest characters in English football forced out in the past year. Strachan, Ranieri and Robson.
