I thought I would share this story of a rather odd man - something of a warning I guess.
Anyway, I work in IT so we often have people who are a little odd but this guys something else.
It all started innocuously enough, its a fairly small world in the area I work in so people asked around a bit and had some vaguely unsatisfactory reports (more of this later) but he did ok at the interview and he just seemed a quiet family man so they took him on.
Being a sociable fellow I tend to welcome the new folks and help them settle in etc. so I spoke to him a fair bit and initially he seemed fine (by IT standards at least).
He was mid 30s and basically non-descript in appearance - the kind of guy who would fade out in any crowd.
Gradually I got bits more of his situation out of him - he was married with 3 kids (later I found out he was married to a girl from overseas who's ten years younger than him) and a mormon.
This was interesting so I asked him about the mormon stuff and he went on about polygamous marriages no longer being part of the religion etc. but he didnt try to convert anyone so didnt think much of it.
All pretty normal so far but then odd things started happening - somebody left a wooden spoon on the desk of the woman who sat 2 seats accross from him.
We were all frankly baffled and at the time thought it was probably another woman in the office who had done it (who woman A didnt get on with at all) and figured the spoon meant 'stirrer'.
After speaking to him a bit more he told me he and his brother go away for a couple of weeks a year to various countries whilst telling his wife he is looking at a country they might emigrate too - though he didnt say it the implication was that they hit the brothels on these holidays...
After a month or so the guy got another job and left.
Not long afterwards a lady from the other end of the office came over asking who he was - apparently a rather fit girl from the other end of the office had left a few weeks earlier and on her last day had received an email from the guy asking her to come for a few drinks with him at x time - he had never even spoken to the girl and she had no idea who he was! very creepy!
So we asked around a bit and it turned out that people knew about the spoon thing - apparently he had done it in other offices - leaving it on the desks of women he liked.
The more we asked around the worse it got - turned out he had bombarded a load of women he didnt know with emails on his last day - all asking them out for drinks when he'd never said a word to any of them!
Its a couple of years since the guy left but it all came back to me today because another woman I used to work with said she had finally tracked down the person who had been sending her obscene texts for the last couple of years...
He must have nicked her number off the support list we kept on the Lan - what a creep!
