since patch - crash when release from own frontier

as topic says, when i release from anywhere in my own frontier my comp locks up completley and i have to reboot the machine.

most annoying, never used to happen. all drivers up to date and am using latest det drivers for geforce4 ti4200 and latest dx drivers.

any ideas?
