As you're all, no doubt aware, yesterday saw the BBC pull out of further bidding to renew their broadcasting rights of The Simpsons. I'm not here to argue about whether Simpsons is better than Futurama, so you old biddies keep your hair rinse in.
I'm just really not sure C5 buying the terrestrial rights to the popular cartoon is a step forward. For one, as the age-old joke of many people not receiving a decent picture for C5, if at all proves, it's not a channel that everyone has access to. Furthermore, I would argue that their audience is largely based in the digital viewer, so is this not some sort of ironic contradiction in the licensing agreement?
I can see why the old Beeb had to pull out, with bids reportedly exceeding close to £700k per episode, but it's a bloody awful shame, none the less.
