Has anyone got this? I need ideas for Christmas and I never played the first one. Is it worth it?

I hated the first one. Loads of little demon babies you have to smack around the head with a crowbar. Give me Resident Evil any day.

A game that I found quite scary was Clive Barker's Undying.

I think the Aliens Vs Predator games are scary when you play as a Colonial Marine!

Yeah I agree, I think RE: Code Veronica (PS2 version) is a bit pants. They may have made a game with a new 3d engine but they kept that crappy, frustrating control system from the first game!
The only thing that's scary about these games is the fact that you know you won't be able to respond quiclky enough to shoot anything that jumps out at you!

The series is wearing a bit thin now (too much of the "same old...") which is why I found it boring. It probably explains why some of the games designers have moved on now to make the superior Onimusha and Devil May Cry!

If you give us some background to what type of games you have enjoyed playing in the past and are playing now, maybe then we can recommend a game better to you!

Silent Hill 2 is far superior to its prequel, (graphically at least anyway,) but you stated that you never played the first and so you might not like this type of game anyway.

Silent Hill 2 is TRES cool. However, I'm sure the game designers could have thought of something 'more' scary then the radio's white noise. Personally I have more fear of WestLife when they come on the radio...

Has anyone managed to get all five endings yet? I've got the 'Water' one, 'Maria' and 'Leaving'.

I just wondered what the other two ones were and whether they would shed more light on the very confusing but cool plot
