siege weapons missing??

through many times in rvr i have wondered about a siege weapon which is missing. yes there is a siege weapon which is not here. i dont know the name of it but can describe it. its the thing looks like twr and inside has ladder and on top there is a ramp so soldiers can get on wall. ( remember lord of the ring 3 or kindom of heavens the movies which they got it.)
wouldnt be more fun on siege fights if that was in? or ladders?
just wondering not complaining or anything else.

i don't know how but i got it into my head that it would be a feature when NF was released. i was kinda disappointed. would be a cool thing.

no no , thank god there is no such thing ! :cheers:
it would make all the trebs and rams useless,it would take far more defenders (supposingly u will have to check/defend the whole perimeter), keep takes would take no time i guess- no braking gates/wall included.

it would be interesting if they made em quite fragile and those inside taking fall dmg when destroyed perhaps or sth like that ? - but i still think it would be a negative impact on current rvr state

Your talking about siege ladders and towers that would allow attackers to climb enemy walls without knocking them down and those are indeed missing in some way, as are alot of possiblities like for example sapping (digging tunnels below the enemy walls using flameable material or explosives to bring the wall down)

But as it is, i can't really see any use for it in daoc sieges coz its not the way it is designed...

well give siegeladders to assassins and remove climbspots :)

hard to find those spots on some of the keeps anyway and makes things a bit less predictable.

It would indeed be a lot fun to attack/defend a keep with siege towers. However, it would make suprise attacks way to fast. It would be also be easy for 2fg to take a whole realms keeps and towers in one night, because nobody would see the towers/keeps burning before they fell.

Maybe if the towers were non-deployable and you had to build them at the portal keep and transport them all the way to the scene of action, but that would require a lot of work by Mythic and would either still be "overpowered" or not used at all.

Lets have moats with giant snakes in them first :) That you would have to fill in before using rams.

Actually I like this idea ALOT...

There are several possible drawbacks, but with some brainwork im sure all of them can be countered. Either as you suggest make them fragile...

Or make them move extremly slow (like rams) at the same time as you dont have a platform up top only end of a ladder...meaning that only once its in position its possible to slip up through the top and onto the wall/battlment.

(Ofc prolly with a serg of pbae waiting there making it decently easy to defend vs that spot so that siege ram/trebs are still important to get the bulk of your serg into the keep...)

But nice idea that could prolly be made usable but not to good!:)

well as far as i remember when nf was about to release i heard too that tanks can get ladders and climb on walls but when it came out no ladders.
well dont worry if there were any of those or not because or relic or easy keep taking because you can do many things about it. ( e.g guards can close ramp or if you got ladder they can throw down the lader. etc)
from many replies it seemed that this could be more fun,
btw with nf release i heard that guards were going to have more actions than they got now.
