While i don't have a list as such, just from looking around this forum you will find most people experience problems with Nvidia cards and alot are swapping to Radeon cards instead.

Now of course this is just an observation i have made and im sure lots of people run nvidia hardware with no problems what soever and vice versa.

Deadmanwalking it was the other way round when SI was released. Anyway now I would go with ATI at present if I were you, not because of any game problems but because Nvidias drivers kinda suck. However things could change when they release there new ones....

The reason why the Geforce 4 MX doesn't support the new water reflections is that these reflections need a particle shader which a GF4MX doesn't have.

Just dont get anything with MX in the title.

MX = done in software, emulated, crap
ti = done in hardware, fast(er), shiny etc.

even a GeForce3ti will do nicely, my second machine uses one and its a damn sight faster than a 4MX has purrty water etc.

How much money you got to spend?

TBH I wouldnt bother with a GF4Ti card since it hasnt any Inherent DX9 Support.

Plus if your spending that cash you may aswell pay a little more for something like a ATi 9600 Pro.

All cards marked as "*no reflective water support / classic shadows only*" don't support the new effects (as they haven't got a particle shader, which is needed for those effects).
All other cards which are supported by SI and not marked as "*no reflective water support / classic shadows only*" support the new effects.

(sorry, I missed to mention it above).
