possibally, but its more traditional to have an automated fan cotroler or a hard (not soft, ie a variable resistor.) one

Hey Clowneh!

Just a quickie. As far as know, the easiest way to change the fan speed on your Shuttle is from the BIOS, either by setting it manually or by letting the system automatically adjust the speed according to the load it's under (you can adjust the temperatures at which the change in speed occurs). As far as I am aware, though, Shuttle have not produced a Windows application for controlling the fan speed.

Kind Regards

Ah fook, it's just my fan is too loud for when I'm sleeping :)
I'll just have to reboot and change every time... what about any unofficial programs anyone might know about?

I think you'll find its the PSU fan causing the noise, I believe Shuttle are bringing out a quieter PSU.

It's not. I have my fan on high setting when I'm awake and play games.

why?

I have my shuttle set to change speed at 62 degs. Which means it only goes to "low" speed from "ultra low" when I am playing games. Why set the speed on high when the shuttle is quite happy running on the lower fan speeds.

Because I fucked something up and it runs at 60 degrees on 'low' fan :)
Actually that may have something to do with me unplugging my GF4 fan

That's good news ... the PSU fan is definately the thing that speeds up and down on mine. I have the CPU fan on a fixed low setting, and have tested with turning off the fan on the graphics card, and it still made the revving noise.

Do you think you'd be able to retro fit?

Read the sudhian shuttle forums, loads of people who have replaced the ICE fan, removed northbridge fans and replaced PSU fans.

The new 250w PSU should be on sale soon and is backwards compatible with most shuttles.
