My work is having a Fund Raising for charity. One of the Fund Raisers is a LAN event for Quake III.

Bearing in mind that I played all of the Quake single player games and have about 10 minutes of Quake Online gaming.....

Should I have a go and either :

1. Make an arse of myself.
2. Enjoy it but end up like a man with no arms in a wanking contest
3. Spectate ?

I'd go for it.

I'm not the world's greatest Q3 player either, but I did used to be in a clan years back and I did play online a lot, although I sucked royally. At an event some time ago where I was against people like yourself with minimum online experience, I gave their ass a sound whipping and got a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside, thus exposing the chasm between the onliners and offliners.

I'd recommend a few days praccy to give yourself at least a fighting chance. Best of Luck.

Get used to hearing "You Have Lost The Lead" (MC Hawking, Quake Master).

Do it, as long as it isnt a pre-pubescent do only. If it is, run a mile.

Do it, and everytime you die, shout out really loudly :D And everytime you kill <some-player>, shout out "Hahah OWNED!! You're my biatch <some-player>!!!!11" :)

You will probably either start off the noisiest lan party ever, or get chucked out. In either case, no-one will notice that you were playing crap :)
