How do I put icons on my taskbar?

If you are talking about the quick launch section then just drag and drop.

Just drag and drop the icon onto your taskbar, but make sure the 'Lock the taskbar' is unchecked. You can check/uncheck it by simply right-clicking on your taskbar.
