and as for James greatest hits I don't care its by far one of the best "best of" albums I've heard and the order of the songs I like particularly. As for disliking 'best-of' albums I don't see what the problem is. One particularly good example is Bob Dylan. I love about 12 dylan songs and am not too bothered about most of the rest (not really found one I hated yet). And since I wasn't around at the time I don't see the point getting an album I know I won't like when I can buy all the songs I do. Its saving me money

its something to do with the Critics loving him for 'his tru stories from the streetz' its seriously fucking patrionising, and middle class of them, but thats why i think he'll be big amongst Garage Fans and NME kids all the same. Plus hes just been stabbed, and he'll probably top himself or get killed before he reaches 25, thus completing the Tupac legacy.


As for BEST OF ALBUMS, I think if you're a real music geek(and its your passion, im not going to degrade myself that much, just to make you feel better) but the fact is, if you really have a passion for an artists music, you want to hear everything they've done, and how it was originally constructed.

I own loads of best ofs, but because of the Best Ofs, I've gone on to buy the oirginal music, the Kinks, Bob Dylan, New Order, Joy Division etc etc.

They're a good starting point i think, and if you want to stop there, fine. Some people just want to hear more, and bearing in mind Dylan has a back Catalogue nearing 50 albums/bootlegs, Its pretty tough to know WHERE to start with him, Personally 'Blood on the Tracks' is where i started, and its fantastic.

Yeah maybe, I dunno, I'm not involved with that kind of thing, but you get the feeling Critics love him for his portrayal of street life, without actually havinga fucking clue, like those people who say " Ifeel so sorry for the orphans, oh i it makes ME so sad" ...if that makes sense, basically self involved pricks, who don't really give a shit, as long as you know 'they care'.

I would agree to some extent that critics have pushed the guy to the top of the pile without considering the alternative talent out there. However, I like the stuff I've heard so far.

Me and 3 others were in a car and his new (?) song came on the radio. None of us new who it was (although by the end I had a hunch) and none of us had heard it before. We were all really into it though, bobbin around in the car etc. So, in my opinion (and theirs), he's got something.
