Shield of Khaos Raid re-run, Tuesday 1st June 8pm

Following the Heroic Failure of the attempt on the Shield of Khaos last night (and thanks once again for all who turned out to help!), I am planning to try again next Tuesday evening, meeting same time (8pm) same place (Aerus Haven). For more details on what the encounter entails, please read my other "Shield of Khaos Raid" thread on this forum.

I do feel slightly less selfish in asking for help this time around - I might be Mr Greedy-pants in wanting the Shield itself (and am happy to freely admit that), but on last night's Raid we also managed to pick up 3 or 4 really nice Randomly Generated ToA items and 5 Artifact scrolls for other Raid attendees to lotto for, so at least I am not asking people to come along with no chance of getting anything from it... plus it is a really FUN encounter as I am sure everyone who was there will attest to (even though we all died horribly... twice ).

Also, if the Raid is successful next Tuesday (and attendees are willing) I would like to then arrange to repeat it on other nights following until everyone who wants it has got it. Artifact encounter difficulties are totally unbalanced at the moment in my opinion - there is no way that the Shield of Khaos is so much better than Aten's Shield that its encounter should be this difficult in comparison - in fact, in many ways Aten's Shield is better (I am just a stubborn sod and want the Shield of Khaos coz I like the look of it!).

Next time the Raid will go ahead if we can get:
1) At least 2 Full Groups of people interested (that shouldn't be too much of a problem judging by Monday's turnout).
2) Important: At least 3 pbaoe Ice Wizzies (preferably more)
3) Important: At least 2 Clerics with decent rejuv spec
4) (Optional but highly desirable) Access to power font and healing field.

So, if anyone wants to come along again for fun and centaur frolics... Tuesday 1st June, 8pm, Aerus Haven in Oceanus Notos. Be there or be...er... somewhere else.

imo, if this is going to be done untill everyone has it, throw it up for lotto every run (including the next one) and you'll have yourself a paladin if it doesnt clash with the ml runs im in. i still think you'd get more interest if it was done as a 2fg arti hunting group. anyone who cant use the shield will gain nothing from this other than the possibility of a scroll that they might need. would be better if you did a bunch of artifacts. but yeah, its your raid so its up too you, just my advice.

When we did this we had 1.5 grps (1 wiz and 2 clerics with HF and PF) was really no problem, its just the tactics on where you stand when pulling him and how meny theurgs you have theurgs rock the boat with him while all concentrate on adds.

I for one, have all the scrolls, have the encounter but need the damn shield

I've been through this loop b4 and the thought of doing yet another run on it and having no chance of getting the item is a real downer

If I'm around on the 1st I may well come along but wheres the fun if you know you never have a shot at what U want?

Sorry... if you are trying to bait me then you are out of luck, as I make a point of only ever responding to sarcastic comments if they contain correct use of the English language. My paladinic nature prevents me from otherwise entering into intellectual combat with an apparently unarmed person.

Afterthought to my previous post (as this forum has a ridiculously short Editing window!):

Do I realise I am being greedy in this request for help? Yes, I know full well I am... as I stated clearly and openly in my original post. If you don't feel like coming and helping out because you think I am being cheeky, grasping or insensitive then thats fine by me - I have laid my cards on the table and been completely honest and open about what I am asking for, in the certain knowledge that those people who know me in-game will read this and might want to come along to help a friend out. And if others would like to come along and help out for possible other drops or just to have fun in a short but frenetic encounter then they are more than welcome as well.

So, yeah, I have made a request for help in something that for others would provide nothing but the feeling that they have helped someone out (if you ignore other potential drops, ML xp, etc.). But one thing I haven't ever done, as far as I am aware, is to post an unprovoked answer to a forum thread which I know (and intend) to be unhelpful and/or cynical. So to my mind that makes the score:

Um... Soulfly, if you are under the mistaken impression that "Idontreadmypms" is an alterego of mine (which under the circumstances is an understandable interpretation) then I ask you to think again. I happen to know who did this, and it was a friend of mine who recently returned to FH and registered, read the thread, and decided to offer their support. If you need evidence in order to believe this, then I ask that you:

1) Check all other threads I have posted in, including some (like the previous time I posted about this raid) where people disagreed with me, and see how I responded.

2) Talk to ANYONE in the game who knows me and see if they think I could be that pathetic.

3) Perhaps most conclusively, join my bg after 8pm on Tuesday evening and ask, as the friend who posted the message of support (Munkyman) is coming along on the Raid and can confirm that it is his post. Or just pm Munkyman if and when you see him online (and pm me at the same time if you like if you suspect Munkyman is an alt of mine).

This isn't a criticism of your erroneous conclusion, Soulfly, as I can see why you reached it - I just want to set the record straight and preserve my reputation for integrity. I can assure you, I would never be that childish.

Thanks to all who turned up to help with the successful re-run of the Raid. In addition to many helpful Guildies (which I have come to expect from DotC), we would have been in deep do-do without help from Icker, Lighthealer and Mauness - and special thanks to Uncanny and Graendel for running to help and join us when things were looking tough.

After a full hour of fighting, Chief Creon finally bit the dust. Way to go team!!!
