Shammie Spec?

I'm gonna get my long neglected Shammie to 50 next patch and am seriously considering going 48 Aug 24 Mend.

To a lot of folks this will make him a buffbot but I actually fancy playing this spec - next patch will mean you actually benefit from the last line of Aug buffs rather than hitting cap - plus I want all of the 24% resist buffs.

I'd be primarily healing with a bit of cc'ing with root thrown in and even the occasional AoE Disease as required.

Do we have anyone playing this spec?

my missus plays that spec (well, it will be when she dings 50, 49 atm)

she has a lot of fun, although all she really enjoys is healing / rezzing ppl so if thats what your after than go for it


plus, when she gets bored, i have another account for her rdy so i can use it as a buffbot

mine is close to that spec, resently iveturned away from the idear, as you will be a buffbot


in a good group you wont have anything to do at all, cept recasting the timed buffs and the ocational dot(wich will be poo with no cave spec), you wont get any insta heals, no spec group heal and a mend healer will heal for a lot more...

as it looks right now i would rather make a mend / aug healer tbh


if they deside to change the frig's like they did the mentas hp regen, they might be worth something though, as the hp regen on the mentas currently are on a 10 sec dur wich ticks every 2 secs (on US) if they did that with the group frig's it would be fun beeing a mend shammy

my original idea was to go 40 aug/rest mend - had been true to this line from my early lvls (always keep aug high with decent mend)

my current spec is 43 aug/27 mend at lvl 48 - although recently i have done quite a bit of RvR, and the amount of people i have had moaning at me for not having aoe root is pretty crazy.

so next patch i am specing out of mend - my final spec will end up 7 mend (for cure disease/poison) 43 aug (would have liked it at 42 - but as above had been planning a higher aug spec, until i changed my mind) and 32 cave.

dont know how well it will work, but fingers crossed

I certainly couldnt compete with a mend healer but they are pretty rare - I did experiment with a mend shammie which was fun but the lack of instas/spread heal put me off going too far in that direction - I personally dont like Cave which leaves Aug as a defining shammy line.

I don't think ill be sitting around doing nowt in a group tho - in the little rvr I have done with my shammy its been a hectic round of healing/rooting/curing dots/ casting friggs on the ressed etc. etc.

I'm not bothered about having crap dots as I'll never use em

This is the other spec I have considered - its a tough call between getting the 24% Matter resist (which is always a handy one) v The Group Friggs (which I have used before and really liked) and the 39 power spec heal.

My shaman is spec as follows

37 Aug = All second to last buffs except Matter Resist

36 Cave = All second to last Cave spells

15 = Better Rez and heals pretty damn well with healing RA

Really enjoy playing my Shaman, makes a very nice RVR active shaman and when needed bloody nice buff bot too.

My shaman has this spec

4 Mending

imo it´s a very good spec for active RvR-ing. With SC stuff and +14 mending at RR 4 you can do decent backup healing too. And you get RR4 quite fast.

Why did I choose 39 Cave? Not for the better root but rather for the +2 in cave, as simple as that. + in cave means better dots/bolts and DDs

Next patch Im going from 33/32/28 C/A/M to 37/38/9 C/A/M

Yellow-resistbuffs and you get CD/CP which is very nice imo

Hindsight tells me i should have gone 37 aug 39 cave.

Cave is overrated and Mending is poor but both are very good

Next patch I think bolts in general get fixed. My shammy has 41 cave, 32 aug, 14 mend. Fun all round spec, but I don't really like the RvR playstyle much.

I'm going to see what the changes are like after the patch then I may switch the mend and cave around. Will wait and see.

My shammy healed a friend for 765 yesterday
