Shall I spec in CS?

Hello my friends, I have a little problem and I need some advice. I was checking out diffrent way to spec at http://daoc.catacombs.com and I found diffrent paths I might go.

One is Blades, Shield and Celtic Spear, the other one is Blades and Shield Max and rest in Parry.

This in numbers is: Blades 44(I get the Fire Blade combo), Shield 42 (I get Slam), Celtic Spear 44 and rest in parry. 13-14 I think.

The other one is: I max Blades and Shield 50 and rest in parry 26.

At the moment I'm at lvl 41 and I have my points left for that lvl and so far I have specced in Blades and Shield and some in parry.
Can you give my some opinions about what I should choose? I'm not sure myself since I have never used CS but most ppl say that it's great... plz gimme some tips

It depends on what you want to be, with CS you will make maximum damage on the enemy and be a killing machine of the realm. With max shields you will be a tiugh to kill defender, taking on you the hits, blocking most of the time so your healer is just watching you without needing to use loads of mana to heal you. Also the block openings are great (I use after block Horizon which stuns the enemy, Return blade which slows it and I close with lunging, which makes the enemy bleed). This combo gives me the time, with a fast weapon to make more than 180 dmg on a red - orange mob, without taking one.

Also the guard ability is great, as you take blocks on other tanks blows and opens the combo styles to use after block. I have spec shields on my lelvels and take 30-60% of blocks. Some oranges don't even hit me when I am in agroup and we kill fast enough.

CS or LW is the only way to go in rvr u need to have as much in CS/LW as possilbe.

Blades get negative to both plate and chain.

LW get a ADD vs plate nothing to Chain

CS get a ADD vs chain nothing to plate.

50 CS/LW 42 Shield rest in blades and parry

42 in shield for the stun.

But if u stick with blades and shield

50 Blades 42 shield rest in parry

u will get a better defence that way

The only down side is CS weapon drop are rare but there are a few high lvl CS hero that would be haapy to help u out with a spear or 2 and we know we all the spear drop now too

What a few people have suggested to me is that you go blade/shield/parry combo as high as poss for PvE (shield to 42 for the Slam stun). Sword/shield hero is the best for groups.

Then when you are high level and the respec patch comes in, respec the blade points into spear for RvR. Keep the shield, so you slam them with your shield and stun them and then whip out your spear for big damage.

(However don't know when the respec comes in, so you might have to wait a while )

CS / LW & Parry = 80 % DAM output 20 % defense
Sword & Shield & Parry = 60 % Defendse 40 % DAM Output

Sword and shield tanks are not unneccessary in RvR ... every caster can prove that

Shield and guard has made many healers happy when attacking a keep. blocked arrows don't interupt your casting. it is great. But get spear for the emain encounters where you will need it.

Shield also is great versus archers and bolt mages.

often better being jack of all trades then master of one. (I know how the real saying goes, mine is improved)

in keep attack i got Shield and blade i have Guard III so i am good as a pure shield hero i have engage aswell

RvR out come the spear my cap damage is 621 in RvR. I have hit yellow con plate waers for 598 dam before and 50th chain wears for 580 dam

I have 1940 hp buffed and 2900 with stag form so i can take a beating

On MLF ive gone for the cookie cutter 50cs, 50lw, 28parry and at mid 20's working very well so far. Too early to tell for final rvr but worked great in BG. My only concern is wil the lower parry hurt my ability in later levels ie 30s and 40's?

Can remember all the item

helm from sheeore hero burnished helm +4 cs +10 str/con

slime cover braclet +3 parry

bracer from amadam dubh quest +5 str/con 4% body +2 parry

CS i have 3 ranging from +3 CS to +5 CS

Glimmersplrit sword from named azures in sheeore

Azure defender for azures in sheeore

burnish guntlets from sheeore +4 Parry +12 qui

would like a Cloak of unseelie skill +2parry aswell that would max out my parry at 63

Findi hard to tank ask a LW champ how they like it being main tank u will find it hard but imo go for one or the other dont mather which but get ur shield up u will need it for rvr keep raids and i found it very useful for xping but try it

parry is low but it doesnt work too well in rvr anyway so u may be alright it is just the xping side i am concerned

I always thought a Celtic Spear was thrust damage, so that you needed to spec Thrust/Celtic Spear. Not Blades/Celtic Spear.

Or are there different spears like you have crush, slash and thrust polearms?

That is albion u need to spec in blade 2handed waepons

Celtic spear and Large weapons anre skills by themselfs u dont need to spec in anything else

Celtic spear is thrust damage good against chain no bonus or -ve against plate

Hi all..question for GREGGOR in your first reply you say to take shields to 42 for CS/LW , but your own spec says shields at 22 ? What do you reckon would be the best...saying you could re spec...personally i think maxing parry is better then 42 in shields ? What I think Greggor means is that, if you get 42 in Shield you get Slam which does 9 sec stun. In RvR you first Slam your mid/alb then equip Celtic Spear for max dmg while he is still stunned and before you know it he has 50-66% of his hp left before he has even hit you once.

I like my 50 cs 50 parry spec i belive it is the best spec because in rvr u dont have time to swap weapons/shield ok for duels but in the chaos of rvr proable to much to do
