been wandering what to spec to recently ..... i was thinking something like:
40 stealth for safe fall 4 and good stealth lol..
39 critical strike for stunning stab etc
then im kind of stuck lol.. was thinking 39 envenom cos can just switch items and get it up to 50... but i mean should i get higher so dont have the hastle? or lower cos of rr.. like not sure what realm rank ill have in the long run lol but thinking 36 might do it.. then where do the other points go? i was thinking piercing for the damage ... or doesnt having over 50 affect damage? lol truthfully dont know alot .. also the styles seem pretty pathetic if you ask me.. a post enemy blocks end of chain and a pretty medium post diamond back attack nothing special ... any advice would be useful.. cheers

Just make sure that envenom is at 50 asap, means you can use the best poison (lifebane).

Pierce is good at 50, but Lurikeens are not the best race for using melee combat unless their con increases per level.

If only celts could be 'Shades...

I found this a few days ago. Might help a little. Offers a lot of end-game templates (at the bottom of the first page).

Hope it helps.

Safe fall 4?

Safe fall 3 is enough to jump of keeps and mile gates anything higher you are planning on jumping off?

I recommend stealth around 36-37.

Envenom is no more then 39 needed (If you can get +11 envenom from items in hibernia not possible in midgard), take away envenom
items as RR rise.

Visit http://daoc.catacombs.com - there are two invaluable resources for Nightshades there, the character builder and Luckie N'Mor's spec guide (found on the Nightshade class forum). Luckie's guide is pretty close to holy writ for a wlot of nightshades, and a good starting point even if you plan to tweak it a bit.

You need your effective stealth to be 50 at level 50, really, including adds from items (max +11 from items) and from realm ranks. Effective envenom of 50 gives you lifebane, which is nice but I wouldn't gimp myself too badly to get it in a hurry.

Critical Strikes, Pierce/Blades and Celtic Dual all give styles, and you have to have specced to the appropriate level to get the style (adds from items etc don't count). Check which styles you absolutely have to have and make sure you spec to achieve them.

Very few shades put anything other than a few leftover points into Celtic Dual - it's generally felt that the return on spec points spent here isn't worth it compared to what you can get elsewhere.

My own template for Tremayne sacrifices points in Pierce to get a natural 50 in CS for the full evade chain and relies on CS styles making up for a low (25) pierce spec. Stealth at 40 for safe fall 4 and to easily max out, envenom at 40 and a few leftover points get me CD 5. You're best off figuring out how you play your shade and speccing to your strengths. If you tend to hit once and run away, emphasise Envenom so your poison can finish them off. Scout a lot? Keep your stealth up to snuff. Like to be able to stand toe-to-toe even if the PA goes awry? Then you'll want to put more into your weapon skill, and maybe even buff up CD a bit more. No two nightshade players are exactly alike, so neither should their spec plans be.

40 stealth is for da gimps!

36+11+ 2-3 RR = 49-50

okay my final spec is

stealth 36 (with rr and +11 i should make 50)
pierce 42 (wanted a high minimum damage so i rose this alot)
crit strike 42 (as far as i know crit strike items are hard to find so i make up with it by boosting crit)
envenom 39(with items i can make 50....mmmm lifebane)
celtic duel 3 (leftovers :D )

this is my baby, i know that it probably isn't the best spec out there, but i enjoy playing my char, and will continue to play her no matter how much i gimp her.

thats the spirit cher! hehe thanks alot all     and pierce shades would do more damage than celt ones wouldnt they? thought pierce was dex/str 60/40 so 90/50 beats 70/70 doesnt it? :D and my keen does alright been able to melee down several yellow trolls that i didnt even PA

sorry mae, but pierce are 50% dex, 50% str.

So 90/2+50/2 = 70
70/2 + 70/2 = 70.

Same.. :)

But.. Dex helps also with evade, this is where luris have advantage. and higher qui = little faster attacks.

though Celt shade with swords.. hmmm.. ;))
