Hi smurkin

I can't say I've ever had problems with the couple of Shuttle systems I've built, but then again I've never really put them through their paces or left them on for extended periods of time. That said, I believe PR. has had his Shuttle running, without reboot or log off, for over eight weeks now, which is good :)

Shuttle's will be naturally hotter than most larger PCs, and the more components you add the more the airflow becomes restricted, but still, I don't think you should have any need to start cutting holes and adding fans just yet :)

Are you actually experiencing any troubles?

Kind Regards

No, although I do have a slot fan in my case due to the extra heat the Radeon 9800 Pro creates.

No..the shuttle I assembled for work runs fine (although my colleagues whinge that its too noisy...mainly coz all the other pcs are dell and very quiet)...the thing is, I read a pretty damming post at www.gameplayer.org (its a long thread...so I havent linked it)...and I quote

smurkin as for the shuttle sb61g2 dizz that shit it sux...it gets to warm that you got to take of the top when you go to lan and its way to weak to play with =/ i tested one at work with 3d studio mark and gf card it couldnt keep the regular temp for long...

Thing is, I want one with 2 HDs in for the next gen games (before the end of summer I hope) and a highend graphics card....and the heat from the HDs concerns me a little....

But, Embattle, I believe you have 2x HDs in RAID in your box...so the slot fan sits in the pci slot

I dumped the RAID card and two HDs a while ago, replaced with a larger faster single drive. This had the advantage of improving air flow and freeing up a PCI slot :)
