SFF Matrix

Hi guys

Just a quick note to say that the above matrix, although very useful, is far from comprehensive in terms of a) the Small Form Factor models listed b) the accuracy of some of the information, especially in terms of the 'extras'. Thus, always be sure to check the specific details before purchasing :)

Kind Regards

Hello again

Just a quick note to say that I did delete xane's post. By strange coincidence, Ch3tan posted exactly the same link earlier this morning, and so I simply removed your duplicate post. Nothing personal, though :)

Hope you're all well

Greetings! I am the creator of the SFF Matrix. In response to Jonty's conserns, it is true you shouldn't use my matrix as the end all in your buying choices. After all, I would hope that when dishing out $300 or more for a box you'd do a little research. :) Take what is presented with a grain of salt and use it to narrow down your choices when making a purchase.

As for the units listed, yes, there are more that I can add. I am not adding older ones, such as the P3 units. I am not adding and VIA ITX based boards, as for those all you have to do is go to Via's site to get all the info. I am not adding other FlexATX machines, nor am I adding mATX boxes. However, if you have more to add then the 30 I have already, please let me know about them and I'll add them in.

Also, yes, it is true that some of the info, namely the number of fans and the special features, is not entirely correct. However, tha vast majority of the info was taken right from the manufacturures' own sites. If you see something that is in error or know of a feature that you'd like to see added to a unit, please let me know. I usually correct errors within 5 min of when I get them during the day.

As for special features, I try to focus more on the technical side of them. You can see from the pictures if one has a shiny front or a carry handle.

Thanks for your interest in this project, and thanks to Ch3tan for spreading the word. If you have any comments, suggestions, or corrections, please email me at comments@redlightning.net

Hi Giggles_of_Doom

Thanks for popping by :) I just wanted to apologise for my prior comments, they were unnecessarily harsh. Sorry :(

Keep up the good work!

Ah, the joys of stat pages. I discovered this site there, as well as finding out that about half the traffic is coming from France. Odd.

Don't worry about it, Jonty. I know it doesn't cover everything and there are bound to be errors. I'm only human. I am pretty sure that the feature table is 99% accurate. The biggest problems were with the fans. They just don't list them. At first I wanted to do away with the fan column and replace it with a db level, but I don't have any units to measure and not all review sites measure it, nor would they measure it in the same manner. If you see something you think is incorrect, let me know!

This guide is ment as a starting point to narrow down the choices when making a SFF purchase. You can very quickly weed out the ones that don't have what you are looking for, then focus in on the 3-4 that are in your price range and have all the bells and whistles you need. From there, read the reviews to see if the unit is junk or not, do a little more research to find out about warrentees and the like, etc etc. But of course, you all know to do this already. :)
