Setting up 4 speakers?

Does anyone know how to set 4 speakers (2 pairs) up on a computer? I have one pair of speakers plugged into the back where they always were and the microphone is pluged where it always was, but, there is another plug between those two, I have plugged the new pair of speakers in but when I turn them on, I get no sound. I know it's not the speakers that are the problem. Am I doing something wrong?

not sure what ur doin wrong...did u buy the 4 speakers as a set or did u already have 2 and u just bought 2 more. If thats the case im not sure. I got my 4 as a set and they all plug into a sub and 2 cables plug into the soundcard from the sub. Front and rear.

if you have something like a sb512, live etc. the card may support 4. my old 512 [have a live now] would only do 4 speakers _sometimes_ depends on drivers/games and such I guess

not sure but i think if you may need to setup for 4 speakers in your soundcard utilities. I have sblive and you need to.
