Servers down

Nice going there.
I get a message in poor English that due to exceptional maintenance the servers will be down, please log out.
30 seconds later you get the message that the servers will be down for 3 hours atleast (expected... 3 o'clock Paris time).
And then you get disconnected...
Not sure what they are smoking over there in Paris, but atleast give a 10 min warning, and post on the frontpage what it is about.

PS. I guess Prywden and the German server hack has gotten them a bit worried.

Nice thing is, according to the homepage, there were 20k players logged on, and they still are now

The website hasnt been updated in nearly two weeks glottis I dont expect them to start now.

This shutdown may have somethnig to do with the hacker on the prywden server but why no news?, why arent GOA telling us whats going on ?. I dont believe they are all at some german convention and have shutdown the subscription (that gets them more money for god sake) or CS. Maybe the hacker has got them spooked, or maybe there is something more owrrying happening at GOA

1 reason could be that they where being hacked when the server shut down happend........would explain the fast but not well thought of actions :-\

Interesting notion. Let's finish the thought. If GOA was to keel over or decide that they need to cut their DAoC service abruptly due to budget concerns, what would we all do? The servers would be down indefinitely and our characters unavailable, perhaps gone forever.

hopefully if GOA crash and burn we would all be able to transfer our current charachters to the US servers free of charge. We'll i'd hope so anyway.

Im hopeing someone discovered a very bad bug or something and theyve taken the servers down to fix it prompto

Im hoping that the site is down because they are posting a news item or maybe these are false hopes, we will see.

One thing is certain....GOA have alot of explaining to do about the two weeks.

I Do believe that the maintence is to stop further hacks of the servers however this occured on the 21st August just 6 days ago. This means that it does not explain the lack of news or the shutdown of the subs and cs sections which to me is even worse.

The fact that GOA cant hold together the two most important parts of thier service to the game (subs and cs) makes me think something is inherently wrong at the company.

I dont share the veiw that if GOA go the whole DAoC Europe will be shutdown, of course there will be a transistion period but im sure mythic have back up plans or atleast i hope they do :s

The bug is that a bunch of clueless fucking uncaring incompetents called "GOA" have been trying to run the game for ages, hopefully this is now being rectified.

Which kind of tells me that if it weren't for DAOC, GOA would be out of a job soon enough. Strange, then, that their attitude is so often one of total disregard for the people who pay their salaries.
