I think we should have a sub forum for personal stuff, like relationships and problems etc. I like asking for help here because I consider you my friends but there is always the problem of idiots making rude replies.
Would it be possible? Or perhaps discuss the idea? :)

For a while, I think soon enough the immature posters would leave though.

I don't think its a good idea for socially retarded teenagers to rely soley on the advice of socially retarded adults on how to deal with life.

It's good that you learn yourself for one, sure you have friends here, but, if you come to depend on them for every little minor crisis in your life, well, you'll have even more trouble than you started out with, when It's finally taken away.

Becoming independant, and getting by without another persons reassurance are two big things in growing up, I think. Huge infact, imagine being able to get on well in life, without having to ask someone if it's ok, or 'the right thing to do'.

And, this IS a gaming forum, if you NEED health/relationship advice, look to things like connections and the samaritans. If you really need to talk.

sorry if this post seems preachy, it's not the aim.

Why shouldn't people be able to ask for advice from people who have been through the same sorts of things as them, and have similar interests to them?

I think threads asking for advice help those of us new to the board to realise that the regulars here are in fact caring, friendly human beings, not just distant and scary gamers.

I didn't say anything LIKE what you implied. I think the ocasional advice thread is alright, but dependancy on ANYTHING when you're becoming an adult is generally a negative thing. A board would just promote that, 'advice' is a serious issue, and not one to be taken lightly at all, that's why there are schemes set up for this kind of thing.

As a form of communication, too, an internet forum is not the best at all, it relies to much on the ability of a person to get their ideas/advice and points across properly.

a simple answer would be: This IS a Gaming forum. I already said that though.

I'm going to watch Dogma.

That's odd, Didnt you say on another thread(about me) "don't bother with him"

Where do we start with someone who can't even take their own advice?

I'm not socially retarded at all, by the way. My comment was flippant. But you don't 'get' all that do you?

As much as I would hate to see this type of sub forum it isn't about whether or not you care. If you don't care don't comment or don't read it.

It's about someone getting something of their chest for personal reasons with the hope that someone might have had the same experience at one time or another.

Heck... teenager problems should be taken seriously - very.

That is the reason why you don't ask for advice on an internet forum.

Maxi although this is a gaming community this is the general section in itself it means most things with in the t&c are ok to discuss.

If someone feels they need advice or help why shouldn't they ask here. The silly responses are funny largely and usually there is some sense in there somewhere.

No go back to NME and let people deal with life as they see fit:rolleyes:

I thought it was poor and generally unfunny, if that's the standard of Kevin Smith films then I wont be watching any more of them.

Bring back the Kitten forum, for fluffiness and warmth.

I thought Dogma was comedy genius :(

as for advice keep in here too many sub-forums would confuse me :p

As for those who try to take the piss ignore them they mean nothing anyway (easier said than done I know). I nearly conviced myself to put maxi on ignore but I found two posts where he was being polite so I didn't. :D

I certainly don't think people should stop asking for advice if they want to, but the idea of a dedicated subforum would have at least two major problems attached to it:

Firstly, the aforementioned sarcastic/"twat posts" which could, frankly, cause an awful lot of hurt to someone wanting to seriously make use of such a forum. I mean, if someone chooses to read the gen forum then they take the risk that they might find views and comments that they wont like, but an "Advice" forum would imply that it was a safe place to feel sensitive.

Which leads on to the second point, which is that having such a forum would imply that we (or more specifically GAME) were putting a stamp of approval of our life experience advice. Just cause a lot of sensible advice comes through these parts doesn't make it endorsable as being counselling.

So yeah, there we go. :p

Speak for yourself. The majority of the adults here, myself included, can generally interact with others without insulting them in any way.

I dont think such a forum is a good idea, it would dilute general more than it already is.
