Selfish PLing

Is this going on more and more these days? It seems every dungeon I go in trying to play my way up to 50 (I have 1 account I try and join parties and have fun), there is some Uber char rounding up all the mobs I and my buddies want to kill and draggint them off to his alt to kill.
Now I'm all for sharing (and caring and even more in favour of bare-ing) but when there are no mobs in Vendo apart from purps what am I to do?
So last night I went proactive and started taking mobs from the guy who pulled them and saying "Thanbks for pulling them for me!". He was still doing the lions share thanks to a BIG BUFF but at least I didn't have to run far :D

Now all I got from this guy was "dfnt poll my mobz!".

So off I go to Muspel to have a go at Sootys. What do I find when I get there? Some Savage being PL'ed by a Shammy - and only one of them moves at a time. So buffbotting. No realy problem there however when he starts coming over and putting a single hit on mobs that I am fighting to leech exp I almost blow a gasket!

I jsut wonder where all this anti-social behavious is coming from. I have no high level chars, I have been playing since november and imo the respect people give each other has dropped considerably.

Well a buffbot is a blessing if you got one, it really helps speeding up xp, i've used mine solo and grouped in vendo. I might use him to pull with disease.

And it happens when you are more than one person at a spot, that both of you attacks the same mob, that 1 hit this sounds like he pulls back and let you kill the mob.

Perhaps they should put lvl range limits on dungeons.

What about making it so you can never have a buff above your level.

Even if the buffbot is L50 and you are L10 you can not get the buffs that are over L10 in any of the buffbots speclines?

Well they toned down buffs on lowlvl players from highlvl buffers. So now a lvl 50 bot is not as powerfull as they where last year, well the heals are the same just not the buffs.

Or you have to be grouped with the person buffing to get the benefits. Probably havent thought this through tho its a bit early and only on my 4th cup of coffee.

Buff bots do need looked at tho, dont have problem with people using them but not at the expense of people wanting to XP the old fashioned way.

I used to treat Spin as a fast easy place to get xp if I don't have the will to wander the realms. Last few months though its been pretty much a no-go area. Couple of nights ago I actually managed to go to the Scav room and start pulling (2 bubs to level, scavs yellow.) Nobody around, I could actually xp there. Very rare I can do that these days. Did have one buffbotter charging in at one point killing the scavs right where I was standing then running on like a locust on steroids. I just laughed. Its all you can do really.

Buffbots are both a blessing and a burden.. People complain about them, but they never complain when they get rezzed or receive buffs.

Personally I show some common sense when playing. I don't 'steal camps', by moving into camps that can't handle my xping when there's already people there. It works the other way as well. I hate it when people move into the place where I was happily ganking mobs.

My bots buffs people (usually) around. Take DF for example. When I move down from the entrance to the spot I want to xp from, I rez people and hand out buffs (If I have spare).

I do not buff people who are standing next to me and pull the same mobs I'm xping off... Does that make me arrogant? Maybe. Why should I help people kill off the mobs I was xping from? Again, if they're moving off or xping elsewhere I'll happily hand out a PoM or so.

My message to buffbot user is simple. 'Relax. You don't need to kill all the mobs, since you can xp whenever you want.'. To the people complaining about them, relax. Yes, they have buffbot(s), but they're paying for them. They put time and efford into getting them to the point they are at now. And no, you have no right to claim buffs at all. But you can ask in a civilised way and you might get some. :)

I think you have missed the point. It's not the buffbotting i object to, I ahve no problem with it to be honest and ahve benfitted myself but::::!!!!!

It's people taking ALL the mobs from a certain con range from an area of a dungeon that IS BUSY.

The 2nd case was of a guy with a bot TAKING EXP OFF ME BY LEECHING when I was solo.

That's why I'm grumpy.

I have had just such an encounter with one of my alts.
I was happily pulling mobs when a buff bot came through pulling everything in sight. Numerous people complained about it (the place was packed), but the guy continued.
He even claimed I was pulling his pulls! Then he'd whack my mob so I'd get no exp from it!
He refused to stop it claiming I started it!

I've never been confronted with such insanity before and frankly this kind of attitude is pissing me off.
It's a selfish way to play and taints the spirit of multiplayer games.

It came as no surprise to find out that the guy was unguilded and unguilded for a reason (well several actually).

Anyway, I aint gonna worry much about it for much longer. When my sub runs out, I'm abandoning DAOC for good. Unless of course attitudes change and maybe GOA slaps something in to stop this kind of PL'ing from affecting other peoples play.

Tried this is askheim lvl 22 sb came with his lvl 48 shammy and aoe dieseased, my group was chain pulling and ofc we ran out of mobs to pull, there was like no way avoiding hitting each other mobs pbae group and a shammy with 5 mobs standing there waiting for the sb to take next
All ended with 4 from my group getting there buff bots and each pulling every pop there was.

I just fell if u have a buff bot try find a place where people normally dont come to xp .

if you start playing daoc now you're basically fucked.
Either its people playing with their buffbot or people getting pl'ed up tp the malmö levels.

and one wonders where all the utter noobs come from...

SI is FULL of excellent spawn sites, and way under-utilized.

Just roam the lands a bit and find them !

Theres been w@nkers in this game from day one - its just that at day 1 it was a mutual benefit thing - nowadays, ive not met many poeple who are actually prepared to help others if it gives no benefit to the person. Its the attitudes of some people that is the problem and not the use of buffbots.

I remember on my epic quest - not too long ago there was a guild actually in the area of my epic mob (my guild was all off line) - asked if theyd help me for 2 minutes and they said no - 2 minutes is too long because they are "powerpulling" mobs to powerlevel their alts. Nice!

Im not saying it should be like a scene from lassie, but seriously, alot of you are tw@ts..hehe...hopefully not all of you will take offence by that sweeping generalisation...let me put it another way - ive been spending some time on alb/excal and people on there actually seem more receptive to general friendly chit chat atm (which is a shame as I still consider this my home).

Oh well - back to being actually polite ingame - i suppose i must be a n00b.

People need to think 'out of the box' once in a while, Spind is a truely terrible place to exp now be it grouped or buffbotting (possible exception being a botted SB doing Spindels). Our PBAE group dared to venture into different areas and quite honestly places like Iarnvidur's Lair, Trollheim, Dellingr have some awesome camp bonuses and are almost never camped.

For ranged Bot users the Bergklan hunter spawn is 2nd to none, especially with the bug where they never enter melee combat (assume it's a bug and will be fixed). A Runie/healer or Hunter/Shaman combo could happily live there for a number of levels. For lower levels try Munin Sound/Knarr, just outside town are a number of spawns that are never touched and on the island are some green to 50 mobs.

While I agree there are an extraordinary amount of dickheads out there it is very very easy to avoid them if you want, but you have to make that choice.

SI zones have better camp bonuses, lots of regional itemised drops and arent in some dingy overun rat-infested dungeon

Unique drops from SI zones are sometimes crappy or weird stats from the random generator, but always salvage well ;)

there are some great spawn sites in SI for mids to xp in either solo with bot or groups.

some that i have found out myself so far are with a bot.. but give a good idea of places to xp as a group.

13-17 morvalts.. plenty of camps around Aegirheim. all have high spawn rates and great xp for a solo player with bot.

Mamouths. 16-22.. again some nice spawns, and fast pops. good baff for botters normally 2 mamouths at a time so nice xp from those.

Munin Sound. lots of camps about can only suggest exploring there as there are tonnes of camps to xp in all which high spawn rates.

drop rates are nice also and most camps have atleast 1 named near by which is almost a guaranteed drop every kill.

Bergklans in SI are good, though you have to be light on your feet as lots of wandering agro. Also, Drakulv Missionaries at the Malmo entrance are good.

Wyverns and Bears in Raumarik.

Hagbui in Vanern

Or, as I will be doing tonight...

hunting the lesser spotted ale beast known to spawn around bar taps. You can solo these but its better with 1FG. Might even have a curry buff beforehand (Curry=Beer Damage Absorb) :)

First of all most botters cant use their bot in SI areas. So they are mostly free to exp around. Same for areas that people think are hard to go to (like Vanern).

Personally I dont do any exp with alts anymore if I cant get buffed or grouped with guildies. After leveling so many charters in here and the change in peoples personility and attitudes I have to say that exping mostly isnt fun anymore.
If I wouldnt be so addicted to the game already I would be long gone.

Mostly if U go to some so called "n00b areas" all U find at primetime is leeching wannabe sb's telling U to "F**K OFF! This is my pop" etc. And thats fun ?

Then I meat people that are lvl 50 and they start to ask what does 1 of their own abilities do... Im like "EH?" and the start to tell that they either pl'ed from 10 to 40 and then were in malmo 40-50 or I just traded my alb charted to this one.
Yes this went to whine palace pretty fast but I think that only solution to this problem would be to make people care about their realm more and not just me me me. And we all know that wont happen anymore.

Just my 2 cents.

PS. Thank god that summers coming. After a month or 2 break all old ugly faces are seen in Mid once again.

I agree to most posts in here...

Bassically the game is not screwed up, it has evolved and will always continue evolving...

... What differs this game from other mmorgs is the value of the community aspect in respect of gamefun... this means choose the way you want to play the game and then choose the guild which suits it best...

They can help you as they know which places are good to play at each level, suiting each playstyle; be it the 1->50 leveller in 3days (hardcore Powerlevelling) or the "I-have-seen-it-all" leveller in 80 days. Mix in some RvR, Roleplaying, events and socialization and you found your home and hence the levelling places...

Spind, like Malm, are places for a certain type of playstyles and not for all. A lot of our guildmembers know Vanern better than any dungeon, have discovered each and every corner of SI and found places in the frontier where levelling and RvRing goes hand in hand...

Just because all run to Spind does not mean it is the sole place to be... Trigali if you want to know 33-38 place -> skona/vanern and you will find your luck ;)

well, i've started the long hule through the lvl 30s in spindel, hunting spindels :)

occasionally i get a full buff bot noobs who comes in and chains em, so i just stick focus snare and leech off em, they pull to fast to notice.

But, there are some really nice spots in SI, like i found a really nice place in grip where orange cons (ideal for bonedancer) spawned every 5 secs.

all u need to do is search around
