I always get the feeling theres thousands of people nit picking everything that MS do, looking for holes no matter how big or small.

Most of the holes that people bring up are things like

"If the wind is blowing from the south and all Windows XP security is disabled and the user has a goatee, its possible for a malicious hardware developer to make a trojan PCI Card that when fitted to PCI01 and if a radio card is installed in PCI05 the attacker can obtain access to the name of your desktop background"

MS are far from perfect but they seem to be improving.

Personally I am glad that I got my computing job now and not earlier, having to use Win 95 and Office '97 would have driven me nuts :)

I'm waiting with baited breath for all these corporate windows update features to be updated. While at work we are gonna have our Servers upgraded to Win 2000 from NT4 so its going to be very interesting this July :D

dude, there are thousands of peeps nitpicking everything. M$ just happens to get hit alot, but hey so does oracle and lots of the *ix's so m00. Anyway, I feel that Bill's folk really are giving it a shot.

Be aware that windows is a massive amount of code, and the way they [stupid imo] have 'integrated' everything, made everything 'userfriendly', easy to use etc. doesn't lend itself well to security and thus can't be audited all in a second. It will take time, and there will be more bugs found before they're done. Live with it.

I personally am glad that M$ security screwups hit the news alot, because it's the worlds most widely used desktop os and people should be aware that what they are using is potentially unsafe.
