Guys,

What are your feelings about scripts??

I've seen folk chatting on the server saying that its cheating (unbeleivable).

What do you guys think

I wrote me a Counter Strike script for my 5 button mouse and it works wonders.
It isn't cheating as it only makes the basics game functions more accessable.

With regard to Counter Strike, stuff like buying a weapon including its full compliment of ammo with one key press, although useful, is hardly a game winning tactic. Also incorporating a duck-jump onto your jump saves you a finger press when trying to jump round corners or onto boxes. A basic manoever made easier, thats all.

To be honest, the only game settings I've changed with my script is to turn the map off, the smoke puffs off and the shell cases down. I can see how certain tweaking using a script could be termed as cheating, but it doesn't bother me.

Wallhackers, Aimbot'ers et al, bother me.
Thats cheating.

I want to do a UT script, but I don't know how, any ideas you lot?

Wot about silent-running scripts ? I'm sure I heard of one of those somewhere :/

Its never cheating to script within the engine's allowance IMO, regardless of how lame or 'unfashionable' it becomes (silent run, etc)

Only when one hacks the engine (or sv_cheats 1 etc is on ) should it be considered a real cheat really, as its more than just intelligent use of the console cmds.

As Staz has already said, scripts aint cheating they are just ways of enhancing the game for the player!
