Pre-ordered over 4 months ago - they continued to take pre orders for a further 3 months - none in stock now...

Annoying really - if I had known they were crap I could have pre-ordered elsewhere.

I've been screwed over by Curries aswell. I went to Tesco's last night and got a raffle ticket, however after giving out 25 tickets of which i got the 25th the informed us of only getting 20 sets.

I am gutted, I phoned about 30 retailers last night and non of them could give me a next delivery date.

Went midnight shopping at Tescos last night but no way was I going to get one there either.

Game didn't fuck up their preorders.
They basically preordered I think to about 80 people at the store I went to, then they gave them to the people in order that they preordered. So I oculd have been screwed if i left it too late. I guess this is where it pays to go to a small out of the way store.

I got mine from Argos, they open pre-orders much later than everyone else and they charge your credit car the full amount at the point of order, this means they tend not to oversell quite so much as the others. Didn't pre-order until Nov 4th got it today no hassle. Also got my 360 and PSP in the same way.

I know a chap who bought his Wiii through amazon. He said he's had an email saying amazon are putting another batch of wiii's on sale at 3pm. Not sure if it's true or whether they'll go to pre-order only. Might be an idea for those who are desperate to try amazon tho (.co.uk this is)

I've never really felt the urge to get a console on its launch date, so I'm rather glad to not have to go through the inevitable disappointment of failing to get one.

After getting an N64 early on and only ever buying 3 games for it because there was nothing else that interested me, I tend to now wait 6-10 months (hopefully) for a decent pool of games to choose from.

Asked around at a few stores - seems Nintendo just did not supply to a number of retailers - our local PC world had none in and was worried they wouldnt have any for those who pre-ordered guaranteed for christmas - I think theres been both over selling and under-supply.

I do wonder what people class as next gen these days. It honestly does appear to lie solely on the graphical capabilities of a console as to whether or not it's taken gaming to the next level.

Quite frankly the Wii has been the most fun i've had with a console in many a year, heck, my mum wants to buy an additional controller now so she can join in playing it more and that something I thought i'd never hear her say.

I'd take this lowly graphically retarded 'kiddies toy' over a 'true next gen' (tm) console.

To join that with some hypocrisy, I do plan on having a 360 some time in the future, but it's not the consoles themselves I have a problem with. I like the 360, i like what it can do (read: the live service), it's this silly idea of what does and does not constitute 'next gen' that befuddles me :/

You want to hear about getting screwed over? Try this one for size. Was told that a local shop would get 26 units to sell on a first come first served basis on the morning of release day - i turn up at 4.40am to queue for one. There is already quite a substantial queue, and i count myself as number 25 in the queue. I sit down and wait in the cold, wind and rain - at 8.40am a guy comes out and tells us they are only gonna sell 22 (because employees have snatched up 4 units). Yay! I quickly head to another store that was gonna sell 10 units and find myself as a lucky number 8 (as most people had chosen to queue at larger stores probably) and wait an hour there. When the store opens and we all file in the guy front of me is told they are now out: they had 6 units (and this they didnt tell the 20 hopefulls that eventually stood outside before they opened, despite walking around in there the whole time, seeing us plainly etc).

So, tired as fuck, wet, cold, hungry and not having peed in 7 hours i head home without a Wii. Joy! Now im just gonna put any thought of a Wii aside until they are readily available. Not gonna chase after one like a fucking idiot again thats for sure.
