Just rolled a scout (lvl5 at the mo) and it's the first time i've played an bow wielding person, just wanted to ask whether it's normal for me to miss 75% of shots and only be able to get one off before going into melee. I increased my Dex to 85 and qui to 77 and am currently at lvl 3 in Bows.

It will get better pretty soonish as you gain a few levels.
If you can get your hands on High Accuracy arrows, it will help too
Also, keep Bow maxed out.
You should be able to plink 3-4 arrows in them before they reach you, depending on what type of bow you choose.

I just respeced my scout (lvl 20) and dropped thrust completely. You really can't kill with a tooth pick..

Going for this at 24:

24 longbow
20 stealth
11 shield
1 thrust

I couldnt bear being that bad in melee, it's why i don't like playing casters.

46 bow seems far too much for me on lvl50,
you can boost up to +11 bow skill on 50.

e.g 39 + 11 from items + realm rank bonus.
And it is not worth to raise it above 50,
because it doesnt give any valuable bonus there.

Or, you can optimize it for later realm rank levels:
on RR3
37 + 11 from items, +2 from RR3 = 50 longbow skill.
And you won a lot of high-end skill points ,
to raise your other stats: shield for slam,
thrust for tooth picking, etc.

There is another thing that you can consider:
If you leave bows on 37, you have to get , and wear some items, on some item slots.
If you use a higher level bows , you may optimize your equipment
more fexibly, e.g. you can concentrate on resist bonus items, because you already have
your bows on 50.

Decision is yours, it is worth to gather information on items that you can possibly get.

thrust 29
stealth 39

not decided so much on thrust and stealth but it will be my left over points long as u have high bow and shield ur fine

U can get extra bow from items so not too essential its over 40.

Slash > Thrust.

Slam is the thing you want in melee. Slam > Snap 2 arrows.
Usually the only ones youre gonna melee are Assassins/Other archers. Thus Slash > Thrust. I know Slash is 100% Str but the damage output isnt good anyways. Amethyst slash is great style.

Eg, Ranger shoots you, boom 400. /face, Engage, run towards, Slam + 2 arrows = 1k damage, melee the rest with Ameslash. Pwned.

This is ideal in my opinion, scouts are not melee class you shoot and move if you do get into melee 42 shield is a must in order to get Slam. then in combat you slam get a nice 9 seconds stun on enemy then you can either run and hide or get a bit of room to stick a few arrows in baddy.

believe me... 40 stealth is a complete waste, and believe me again, thrust is completely useless, what styles are you planning to use?

Shield is a must have, with slam and ame slash you can beat most other archers in melee (and most non-buffbotted shadowblades if they fail their PA and aren't a realmability circus)

Some info about the new damage table:

THRUST

Hunter = RESISTANT
Shadowblade = RESISTANT
Nightshade = NEUTRAL
Ranger = NEUTRAL


SLASH

Hunter = VULNERABLE
Shadowblade = VULNERABLE
Nightshade = RESISTANT
Ranger = RESISTANT
