As i reach lvl 40 im trying to figure out what spec to choose..

Any 50 scouts want to comment?

Base Skills
(1)
Stealth: 35
Longbow: 44
Sheild: 42
Slash: 29

(2)
Stealth: 35
Longbow: 34 (50 is reachable)
Sheild: 32
Thrust: 50 :D

With a few levels of Dodger DF would be usable (plus i would get IP and SB's dont hah!)

Cheers

be4 the scout nerf my scout was a pure sniper, 40 in longbow only 6 in thrust and rest in stealth(at lvl 40) , pritty gimped for pve and gr8 for rvr, if my target got into melee with me the chances are I'd of died anyway so it worked well, I seriously recomend u dont do the sniper spec in this day and age, that sped died with the nerf.

#1, just because Thrust isn't too good if you're not an infil.

Consider this spec too:

Stealth: 30
Long Bows: 40
Shield: 42
Slash: 39

Much better melee ;)

I'm not at 50 yet but I get the feeling that speccing too many points in melée will be a waste because I ain't going to melée anyone down without getting a few nice shots on them first.

I did have 2 final specs in mind....

50 Longbow
42 Shield
29 Thrust
26 Stealth

I know that with item bonuses this could mean Longbow of around 60 and that anything over 50 adds about 3 damage per point (correct me if I'm wrong), however, this should reduce the damage variance and mean less missed shots. 42 shield is obligatory and I'm not sure about Thrust and Stealth. 29 in thrust grants a pretty useless style really (unless your enemy willingly allows you to get behind him) so I may tinker and add more points into stealth.

The other spec I was thinking of was...

40 Longbow
42 Shield
39 Thrust
30 Stealth

Still the chance to get to 50 in Longbow and with better melée damage (again, a pretty useless style for 39 Thrust).

In all probability, I will go for the first template as this will allow me to do as much damage as possible with my primary weapon - I'm hoping for over 1,000 damage on a crit shot with a nice bow....I can but dream. ;)

Stuck with a basic sniper spec meself some might say 50 in bow is not needed but everyones different just depends how you play really.

50 longbow
42 shield
21 thrust
33 stealth

Get into a mele fight i'm pretty much dead unless i get very lucky, but if i wanted to fight up close i'd have picked a different class.

And with the right bow 1000+ damage is possible if you hit the right class :)

Scouts u spec how u really want to play them. So if sniping suits you go for high bow skill.

My spec on my scout at 50 is:

45 Longbow
42 Shield
34 Stealth
29 Thrust

U can boost any spec line u want with items but that means u must have those items. If you dont need to specific items u can buff ur other stats like dex/quick/str etc.

Spec it how u want to play it.

Ohhh come on! Don't be like the rest Vestax.

Some interesting templates you got there.
However I think a 50 shield scout would be better than a dragonfang scout.
Read some tests on the issue a while ago and 50 shield scout won over 50 dragonfang scout in almost all duels thanks to the insane blockrate.

With 50 base shield + items + rr + Mastery of Blocking X and your high DEX you oughta block like a maniac and can easily trigger brutalize.
With Evade III and Dodger II or III you should have a good defense and offensewise you have your amethyst slash with very high attack bonus. Or critshot after brutalize. ;)

Maybe something like:

30 stealth (easily 40-45+, in theory you can get it to 50 as well) ;)
35 longbow (50 with items and rr)
50 shield
34 slash (50 possible as well)

Would be fun to see. If none of you wuzzies try it I have to buy a scout myself and play around with sometime. ;)

Some nice specs there...

Svartur: Isnt sheild only 50% effective against dual weilding classes? (SB's + NS's) would seem pretty pointless getting that much sheild if that is the case.. Although i do agree with you.. i dont like going for the cookie cutter templates

I had my Scout in Bg when the infinite respec bug was around and i tried..

24 thrust/slash
20 sheild
11 stealth
(longbow autotrained)

and it sucked bigtime... :)

Does anyone know any Dragonscouts?

It sucked? You spent the whole time telling me how you were one shotting Luri's with 6 spec in LB :p

Im going for the typical 42 spec in shield, but im unsure how Im going to take the other skills. Might go for the high stealth so I can scout slightly better.

Teador's spec looks to be the best

My spec is:

LB 36
Stealth 35
Shield 42
Slash 39

With SC easy to max LB and stealth, even LB is 50 now with a crafted bow.

DON'T spec THRUST.

In other words:

THRUST SUCKS. (as a scout)

Tafaya's spec is very good too btw :)

50 Longbow
50 Stealth
rest into shield/thrust mostly shield

And my playstyle suits this spec very well because i very rarely melee, so fire away with gimp spam but think about your gameplay before you use someone elses specs.
What works for you doesnt always work for someone else.

well i have emily scout who is 50 and I respecced her fully when the respecc option came in.

at 50 she has l/bow 50 & sheild 42. slash 29 and the rest in stealth

i reduced the stealth and increased her slash in the respec and i can honestly say it works. Your L/bow should be level with the char and aim for sheild at 42, the rest in stealth and slash but 29 is important as it gives amythest.

good luck and i hope it works for u too :)
