If you solo alot - sojourner
Main Reasons:
- FZ
is effectivly an I-WIN button if used properly in 1 on 1's (if you dont miss that is
)
- Water breath buff
is handy for saving cash and inventory space
If you group alot - battlemaster
- BG
is great for small group/duo fight s
- Grapple
same as BG
- Powerleak
handy little ability (aparently)
If you duo you have a choice depending on your and your duo partners playstyle/preference
all of this is just how I see it though, as I have never played a BM (my pallys not got ml's yet)

I was Sojourner for ages, but a month or so ago I went to BM, I'm enjoying it grouped as well as solo, so no regrets.
Battlemaster offers me abilties as:
Mana removeal, handy on vamps.
End removeal, handy to lower melee chars dps.
Grapple, more of a group ability, but solo use for it, like using dots.
BG, group only ability, very handy IF they attack the other guy.
Dex/Qui debuff, I don't often use this tbh.
Random buff shear, quite nice but costs alot of end.
Throw weapon, handy for an instant interupt tho disarms for 10sec or so, also has a nice fluff factor.
Essence Flames, creates a buff that gives you a chance to a nice dd.
But with all of the styles, end cost is insane and you WILL need end heal/regen things.
In my opinion, Sojourner would be better for someone looking for I-Win things.
