Who WAS it that recommended Scissor Sisters to me on IRC ?

It's kinda funky (literally, got a 70s style going on in a lot of it), but damn, it's grown on me playing it tonight.

I think "It can't come quickly enough" and "return to oz" would be my favourites though.

That would have been me. :)

I admit their style has sorta grown on me also now, It's sort of the BeeGees stike back style since the choruswes sound just like them. :D

Take your mama is good though i must admit, gonna get round to getting the rest of their songs methinks. :)

Yeah, to start with it's a "oh my god, it's a Bee Gees cover band, just not doing Bee Gees songs!", but then you listen more and it grows on you. I cited those last two tracks as favourites as they're less of that style, but the rest definitely grew on me too. Going to have to listen to the lyrics more closely and/or find transcriptions (http://www.allthelyrics.com/index/s/ doesn't list them btw :( ), as I'm sure there's some interesting stuff in there looking at just the song titles :).

There hasn't been a band around for ages that I hate quite as much as the Scissor Sisters. They are the very pinnacle of musical abhorrence.

And it's not just because of that cover of Comfortably Numb.

No, no no.

You mean those TWATS from Art Brut and their 'we formed a band' shite. Worst single I've heard in years.

I haven't heard them but the NME were raving about them last week, so I think I'll be giving that a miss.

Only heard Comfortably Numb. Didn't think people took them seriously, but everybody has different taste.

So I went to see them last night and it was really good. :D A real good laugh and considering I couldn't be arsed to buy (or otherwise aquire) the album the quality of the music was a welcome suprise. It was also not as gay as I was expecting. Still quite gay though. :)

Saw the videa of Take your Mama, a cross between Elton John / George Michael Guitar & Prince funk as far as I can tell. Bought CD today. Dont like Comfortably Nuimb as I like the Original but the rest is quite fun and varied which I like.

Seeing them at v2004. Well, having the chane to go see them, i'll probably be as far away from the main stage as I can get when they come on. They really are a couple of immensely shit poofters.

Dunno, I've only seen snippets of the videos with the two guys singing. Snippets were enough for me to declare them a couple of poofs and their music shite.

I'm surprised they didn't get on more people's bad side for covering Pink Floyd.

Edit: heard a quite good mix of 'Take Your Mama Out' and '21 Questions' by 50 Cent on Radio 1 last night.

It sounds so distanced and shit in comparison with the original, you forget they're associated.

They've destroyed Comfortably Numb to such a depth I won't even give them the time of day. Fiends.

I']ve said this before butr i love them for covering comfortably numb, it obviously wasn't a tribute in the typical sense(like Limp Bizkit covering The Who) so it's not abhorant, they KNEW it'd piss people off, surely. They were right too, anyone who can tackle the bearded legions of pink floyd obsessives is ok in my book.

Thye're shit though.

Oh, I dunno. People get so damn anally retentive and serious about 'the Floyd'. Even though everything since 'The Final Cut' has been utter dribbling dogshit.

Think it's hilarious to be honest. Funniest cover since Rolf Harris took 'Stairway to Heaven', bent it over and satisfied it's internal organs.

An amusing comment from the guy who introduced me to Echoes, and helped me decide the Floyd were one of the best things ever.

I dunno, I reckon it was funnier to hear all the people who thought the original was one of the best songs ever get up in arms about Cake's cover of I Will Survive. I loved it, because it made the song bearable to listen to. Plus Cake rock.
