SC'ing and Buffs Question

Had a bit of a trawl on teh web and not found a definative answer so i thought i would ask you peeps !
If my char has fully SC'ed armour and say this caps out the maximum on a stat - e.g strength and then i receive str buffs from a cleric - is it actually worth the extra cleric buffs being cast or should they save their conc for someone else?
I'm asking as i have a lvl 40ish necro with some sc'ed armour capped out on int and when i got some int buffs the other day it didnt increase the int stat that was showing by any further amount, I am not sure if once level 50 the cap increase such that SC armour would not cap it out alone and hence the need for buffs as well to cap out ?
- Would having a buffbot in tow be pointless / if you have a buffbot in tow is it pointless in spending the extra on getting armour SC'ed ?
The question doesnt apply just to necro btw if that makes any difference to the answer.
Thanks in advance if anyone can clear this up for me :)

There are seperate caps for Items and Buffs - thus you can get for example 24% heat resist from items and another 24+ from high spec buffs.

Otherwise there would be a lot less buffbots...

This is what i thought, but why does my necro cap at say 224 int at the moment (no idea of real figure - i'm in work) from armour , yet when int buff cast it didnt increase any - does it increase "behind the scenes" or is it simply capped except for resists that stack?

Hmm and more usefully (maybe) : You should be able to get the same amount again from buffs as you can from items/armour, so if you are capped with SC and then buff and it doesn't change your stat it sounds like a bug tbh, is it only Int that it affects? and are you sure an Int buff is being cast (probably a stupid question but have to check)

Are you sure that you are casting the int buff on yourself and not on your pet? :D

And by the way 224 sounds really like a buffwd necro, at lvl 40 its impossible to get that amount of int even with capped aug. acuity + capped stats. I got Aug. Acuity III on my sorc and capped int, I have 210 int at lvl 49. So seems like that 224 int is buffed...

He said he didn't know what the cap actually was. He just used a ficticious number as an example ;)

You cap seperately for each of these 3 things:
Items and armour
Base buffs
Spec buffs

It might just all be happening behind the scenes with the acuity buff, but as far as I can tell mine's always shown when I'm buffed.

Otherwise, it just might not be that which the buff is trying to raise as said already ;)

I will check the stats tonight and try to remember to report my findings here .. And yes the int buff was cast on the Shade and not the Pet..
Lets just hope there is a passing cleric as i log me necro on willing to buff it :eek7:

There are hard caps, regardless of how much mota and +%buffs your buffbot has.

iirc:
Items = 75
Basebuffs = 62
Spec-Buffs = 93

Supposing you have a fighter class who started with 80Str, at lv50 he has +45Str and then fully SC'd armour and buffed with a good bot, will have a maximum of 355Str. The only way to get higher is with AugStr(RA) or using +Str cap items in ToA.

Btw, my cleric has 36Enhance and I have ToA items to give +25% to buffs, I bought mota1 today aswell. These took my hp from 1810 to 1904... and there's only 16Dex difference in being buffed by an mota4 bot, or me buffing myself. This helps alot in small groups where I can give near-buffbot level buffs ;)
