I dont think any of us can deny that old people fucking stink.

Shit.
Fish.
Piss.
Sweat.
Sweet and sour sauce.

But what the hell is the reason for this? Maybe there is some science behind it that they simply cant smell such foul odours any more. Maybe in their social circle its acceptable for them to collectively smell like a land fill site. Or maybe they plain old dont realise it.

Definitions of scientific on the Web:

•of or relating to the practice of science; "scientific journals"

Isn't it healthier NOT to wash your hair for months on end ? which results in really stinky hair

(Not that I would know, I have a No. 2 all over - stops girls pulling it)

I worked in a house today owned by an old fella of 93, he was lovely and was very chatty and on the ball

Now, he lives on his own, he has family that visit him 3 times a week and meals on wheels every day, but if my dad gets to his age and is on his own, there is no way i would let him live in the piss stinking squaler that this old guy was in

He's not poor by a long shot, but dont his family have any respect for him FFS. The place stank of piss and was very dirty, I felt so sorry for him, as he is obviosly not aware of it

It has always bugged me. Today was the worsr ive experienced though. It was a couple so obviously could take care of each other and not sure what excuse there was. It literally smelt like a land fill site and made me shudder when I smelt it.

Checked pub-med and couldn't find anything relevant other than the older you get the less potent your sense of smell becomes.
I agree with Ez though, don't babies smell of shit at times too? :p

Only stinks for a couple of weeks then the natural oils your hair produces actually start self cleaning. Takes 4-6 weeks. Don't ask me how I know, not telling!

They smell less as the old windbreaker gets rusty.
They care less 'cause they're on loaned time already(imagine us at 90...100...130?)
They stink of "old folk" due to several reasons;

- Stuff. Old clothes. They have that faint old person aroma. That smell of old folk in an oldies house, not the piss smell, but that "old" smell might be from here too. Medications smell too, there are plenty in an old peeps home. All adds up to...stuff smells.
- Conditions. Many medical conditions produce smells too.
- Slight incontinence. It will happen to you.
- Decay might have a factor here.
- Harder to do a 100% scrubdown.

To many old people, you smell revolting too with your axes and soaps and such :p

Also on the washing hair bit;

Yes it's healthier for the hair(and quite possible body) to wash max at 3 times a week. Less strain and scrub.

It might be possible, speculating here, that the more you wash, the more sweat etc you produce too as the body fights back un-natural elements. Atleast you psychologically will think you stink when you don't.

People wash way too much anyway.

I agree with that, Toto. People do wash too much. OK fine, if a bird craps on your head wash it (I'm talking about the flying ones covered in feathers not some scrubber you chatted up down the pub) but you don't need to wash your hair 3 times a day. Thats gotta take some nutrients out of it all those shampoo chemicals. Gotta be same for the skin - all that scrubbing getting rid of the skins natural oils etc

lol i tried that (the whole natural hair washing itself thing) got to about a week and i couldn't take it any more; it's like a month isn't it for the oils to actually process the hair and clean it?
