The Ring (orginal and the remake is worth a look).

The Decent. The random jump scenes and the feeling of being actually in the caves amongst the carnage is worth a watch.

SAS - For shame! Encouraging anyone to see the remake! Though I do agree with you on The Ring (ORIGINAL ONLY FFS) and The Descent. If you are going to see a good recycled film, the remake of the Grudge was actually very good, and the remake of Dawn of the Dead was cracking. I also reccomend The Eye, Dead End (if you like your horror bizarre), and of course, Alien and Aliens.

If you travel on the London Underground from time to time, it's good to have watched Creep - that's shitting my eldest up alot as we wait at Kennington while he works for the summer :p

Well, not so much a jump but more of a nnnnggghhhh was Audition towards the end. Korean scary movies are reliable for jumpy moments though.

Yeah I'd definately go for Ring as well. The Japanese one, of course. Audition is great and its very misleading. ;)

Pfft. Ring. The. Ring. The Ring. At least I recognise the remakes for the bile enducing rubbish that they are. Although the second remake was hysterical in places.

"Please... please look after my son... he's afraid of water, and just recently been possessed, so can you just leave him unattended in a bath full of water whilst I go and pack some pants? Yes, thats right. Pants. Oh don't worry, I dont have to go far, just back to the scary house I just ran screaming from, where a giant dark tree of ill omen burnt into the walls and a spirit of pure evil manifested. Because my son needs pants."

The Ring, the original (not the Hollywood rubbish)

Watched Hostel recently, weird ass film!

The new Hills Have Eyes was pretty freaky... :D

Not sure on any others, don't tend to watch as many Horrors as I used to.

15 years ago - Salems Lot, the boy at the window still bothers me now.

Event Horizon was scary in a weird way as well.

'tis likely a bit unrealistic though, I reckon cities would be the last targets to be hit, they're a good way to sue for peace.

yeah tis good that.gave me cousin nightmares:Dwill shit u up if after u seen it u wake up at a certain time in the wee small hours;)
some old horror films are good too if u can get past the dated effects an clothes. like in the original amityville horror with the eyes at the window bit or when the house tells em to get out.
also quite liked candyman (candyman 2 explains more the background of candyman but its not as good) and the crow.
johnny depp fans should check out ninth gate where he plays a rare book dealer that becomes embroiled in finding the pages to a book supposedly written by the devil detailing how to find the gateway to hell.
