Scanner/Slug- freaky stuff

My dad and brother live in a house together each with their own PC in seperate rooms on the first floor.

My dad's just bought an Epson1660 scanner and eveytime he scans something the Alcatel modem on my brothers PC drops connection. The two PCs aren't networked and my dads PC is not connected to a phone socket.


Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe it's dirtying the power supply to such an extent that the power supplied to the USB modem fluctuates enough to cause it to drop. Assuming the scanner has it's own power supply, try sticking it into a protected extension cable type thing.

If it's not on it's own power supply I can't think why it would be doing it.
