short howto
step 1:
get http://theharms.org/daoc/sc-calc.html
step 2:
fill in your current set-up in here
step 3
get the best jewelry you can get from DF and quests (Albion bracer quest is great). Best thing is to start with empty template and gather the jewelry with highest utility value (only count in use full stats. Remember that +19 stat and +7% resist and +52 hp gems are most effective to imbue with. So try to target your jewelry that you can reach your cap with this value. (example: 37 strenght with jewelry is ideal because you can use 2 x +19 gems to reach cap)
step 4
Decide if there are any epic pieces you wanna keep. For armsman the pieces worth keeping are the legs (reasonble utility expensive to replace) helm.
step 5
if you wear a shield get a MP, only cost you about 600 gold on average which is cheap
step 6
get armour you can afford (for me 99%). For cloth it is about 1 plat for plate 4 plat
Step 7
fill in the picture. Flat out your gems. Don't use +25 strength and +9% resists thing because the highest graded gem will double imbue points. Ideal are +52 hits , +19 dex +19 quick +19 strength configurations on 99% items. You can safely overcharge 4 points on 99% items and 5 points on MPs. Try to max most important things first. (example: plate wearing armsman don't need maxed trust resist because plate is resistant as it is and not much trust out there. Another one: max body and energy since these are the types that do the mezzing)
Step 8
Find a spellcrafter willing to do your armour and weapons. Remember this can take up to 4 hours to do (32 99% gems required) and pay him good
