Lose the power, it's not worth it compared to the cost in imbue points.
As for the melee resists - max melee resists for you would be the same as plate armor with no resists...
Don't ignore em!!
Resists are for saving your hide in close battles. If you're outnumbered 5 to one then no resists are going to make a difference, but in close fights having no melee resists is going to mean you get 2-shotted and lose instead of surviving and winning...
Furthermore: 99%qua gems are the same likelihood to occur as 98%gems, so remove some risk and ask for 99%-ers :)
Try and add resists always 7% or 9%, stats always 19-25, skills 3 or 4, hits 44-68, for best efficiency...
No way should you be overcharging like that and still ending up with no melee resists and only decent + to one skill...

Your +power is unlikely to even let you cast 1 more spell - not worth having.

Planning to use some of the bracers from SI (which will mean waiting around an extra month) would be one way to give you the extra imbue points to increase those melee resists.

It might be worth getting a crafted staff too - the focus gems would use 2 or 3 slots (if you want the matter focus or not) but you could do better than +5 power with the other slot. Expensive - depends if you can stand farming yet more gold.

You're a matter cabalist and you try to get even more +matter stuff? Why? I have 46 matter, RR5 gives +4 in matter maxing it at 50 for none variance. More in matter doesn't do alot. I rather give lots in my secondairy spec which is body. I have 28 in body, +11 is the cap i think +5 at RR5 is 44 body, which makes the baseline lifedrains a force ro reckon with. Not as good as real body cabalists but makes us ALOT more versatile.

About the resists. Spirit and matter are very uncommon damage types in Midgard and Hibernia, don't max them out. I have them in my template around 7-8%. Also cruch isn't as common as slash and thrust, so I have crush at 9% and slash and thrust at 24-26%.
As is stated +power doesn't do much. +matter doesn't do even less, a waste of space. Also, make a tri-focus staff, much nicer than dual focus. :)

omg Tilda - i have no idea what you going on about but looks quite mad, i spose i'll have to think about these sort of things for my chars :/ looks a bit like too much hard work for me.

I am dreading SC/alch. I have NO idea what I am going to do. So far, all I have done is buy an MP robe from Kurik. 800g...I think I was conned! You can get full sets of 99% for that price! Hohoho. I don't care though...I am rich. LET'S GET IT ON!

Ahem. Staffs. I would have thought that a matter cabalist staff would be best dual focused on matter and body, not spirit. Plenty of DF spirit staffs for power cycling. And +matter doesn't do much for DoTs...that would be INT. :D

I HATE switching staffs. In wall fights and stuff i cast cast cast, recycle pet, recycle, cast cast cast, recycle... etc etc...
Not nice with only dual focus.
