SB Live! Player 1024 PCI

I'm after a new sound card.

Is the one in the above title much better than my AWE64?? I play games of course!! I'm also looking at running DVD. Does the extra "power" really make a diffence.

For a start, you can play 32 mp3s at the same time, has true hardware midi (if you want it) digital output, and support for 4 speakers
in comparison, awe64 is very very old hat
if you cant get that at a good price, get the Sound Blaster Live Value at around 50 quid
dont touch any of those vortex 2 shite tho

LOL vortex 2 aint shite m8... not something like the videologic sonic storm 2 which is quite popular in t'UK... but anyhoo, i cant decide between vortex 2 and the 1024PCI... which is basically an SB live value... but with more midi voices (a gay marketing ploy). Me can get 1024PCI's for £40 (OEM) but i like that videologix card becuz it has optical out which is good cuz me has a minidisk and so can record me mp3's for when me gets me BIG sound system in me nova SR (when i get the car that is

Ok it aint shit, bad wording

I just found in all the instances i saw, the sound quality was not as crisp and when the bass is upped, it distorts too much as opposed to the CL cards.
Otherwise, the optical connections are always handy

Go to Tandy and pick up a full oem sb live for 79.99 which gives you a decent sound quality with the optical in and output
