So im thinking of rolling a Savage, not for any real purpose just allways wanted one.

Anyway, going purely by stats, Troll is the obvious choice, doesnt overcap qui and has the highest str+dex

But are trolls too bulky making it dificult to see around to pull off positionals?

And im taking the 49savagery 44Hand to hand spec.

Troll has overall better stats, and racial resists are also good on troll. They are pretty much on par with kobolds when going h2h, and by far superior of any other race when going 2h.

15 str 10 con on creation ftw.

Only drawback about troll is the size, gets easily targetted in rvr, and in small areas it covers a lot.

This is all imo, go for what you like, after all looks > all :) You can't gimp yourself that much just by chosing the "wrong" race imho, just chose one you can stand looking at while playing. After some time playing the class, I highly doubt size of a troll will make a difference when it comes to landing styles on smaller targets.

I sometimes regret not chosing troll, both considering stats and the fact that I like the character model/animation when in combat mode on a troll, but in my template I can fight on par with any troll savage.. atleast that's what I like to think :)

Would most likely be a tie, atleast if all use the same lvl end shout, as they drain the same %-age hp, and when they too close to 0% they wont be able to use it anymore :)

Well... Put a Troll Savage in your suit and then put him up against you and you'll see. ;)

Well, a troll savage in my suit might not have capped swing speed, as I don't have a whole lot of qui in it, but otherwise you'd have a friggin hurricane xD

All races are good for savages except dorf.

Troll has the best damage stats in the end game (str and dex), valkyn easily caps qui, kobby caps qui with just a little bit on suit, norse caps it with it all on suit.

if you want an easy sc job, go valkyn, if you want sexshi, go norse, if you want big fat easy target, go troll, and if you want to be a gimp like naus, go kobby.

all savage races hit hard, you can play as any of em and wont notice too much diff :)

wtf are you on about?

Norse 5dex 15str 5con. Atleast thats the way to go with h2h. you'll end up with 100dex/str = opted! Nuff said.

Damn I'm too bored...

str dex qui
Dwarf 75 95 73
Kobold 65 115 93
Norseman 85 95 73
Troll 115 80 58

Add 30 creation points, 15str 10dex

Dwarf 90 105 73
Kobold 80 125 93
Norseman 100 105 73
Troll 130 90 58

Add 25 str/dex from toa bonusses and 75 from template

Dwarf 190 205 73
Kobold 180 225 93
Norseman 200 205 73
Troll 230 190 58

Add 93 str/dex from spec buffs and 62 str/dex from base buffs

Dwarf 345 360 73
Kobold 335 380 93
Norseman 355 360 73
Troll 385 345 58

(stat info taken from, clicky

Calculating weaponskill with these stats at rr5, 44 h2h spec and +11 h2h in temp:

Dwarf: 1845
Kobold: 1863
Norseman: 1863
Troll: 1891

(weaponskill calculater, taken from clicky

When aiming for 250 qui, troll would need 99 qui from template, dwarf and norse 84 qui, and kobold only 64.
Then you'd have to decide wether you'll be running with or without celerity haste when fighting, which spec you want and wether you'll be using healer spec haste or haste shout and which weapons you'll be using.

49 savagery: 39% haste shout
32 aug celerity: 31% haste
31 aug spec haste: 15% haste

When using 2x sally tails you get the following:

49 savagery, no aug healer haste:
R-weapon speed: 4.4
L-weapon speed: 4.4
Spell haste: 39% (shout) = 39% haste total
Item haste: 10% (toa bonus)
Total quickness needed for cap swingspeed: 250

49 savagery, celerity haste:
R-weapon speed: 4.4
L-weapon speed: 4.4
Spell haste: 39% (shout) + 31% haste (celerity) = 70% haste total
Item haste: 10% (toa bonus)
Total quickness needed for cap swingspeed: 0

spec haste, celerity haste:
R-weapon speed: 4.4
L-weapon speed: 4.4
Spell haste: 15% (spec) + 31% haste (celerity) = 46% haste total
Item haste: 10% (toa bonus)
Total quickness needed for cap swingspeed: 210

(weaponspeed calculator from, clicky

This will of course vary when changing the factors.. choice in weapons, choice in buffs, different specs and toa haste from items.
However with these stats/buffs/specs, quickness doesn't matter if you find yourself running with an aug healer in group who keeps celerity up when fighting. If you solo or don't have any aug healers, kobold will cap swingspeed a lot easier than a troll though.

I may be wrong about all of this.. just thought I'd put together a little bit of information for those in doubt about race and spec, but feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken anywhere :)

Cheers Naus,

but shouldnt you halve healers haste?

And Norse does cap qui with just 75 in suit if you put atleast 9points in qui at creation.

50(base stat)
+9(creation)
+23(at level 50)
+75(from SC suit)
+93(from spec buff)

=250

So ive decided to go norse anyway, and spend my points as 10str, 10dex, 9qui, 1con :D

True about norse with 9qui, the figures I had was with 15str 10dex on creation :)

Not sure why I should half healer haste though O,o

well h2h is 50% str 50% dex hence you should aim to get equal in the both of em.. thats whay I would but more starting points into str as a norse savage as the savage gains more dex than str while leveling.
