Saracen Scout

Currently leveling a saracen scout,

final spec; 50 longbow, 36 stealth, 42 shield, rest thrust (with 35 stealth at rr5)

However, have watched a movie recently with a briton slash scout, using battler and styling for 200-300 with amy slash. Wondered if it is worth respeccing to slash, and going something like 50 longbow, 29 stealth, 29 slash, 42 shield.

Saracen slash, any good? give ideas!

I'm briton slash and I hit harder than 200-300 on average.
Atm my spec is 44 bow 35 stealth 29 slash 42 shield, +15.
With less than 29 weapon you'll get really gimped WS, enemies will evade even more, you'r slams wont hit fuck all and you don't have access to the most useful styles. having total 50 stealth is all well and nice, but it would probably be worth lowering it to get up your weapon spec. I'm thinking about going 50 bow 42 shield 29 slash rest stealth for NF, but will investigate how MoS work out first.

edit: wouldn't recomend saracen slashing tho, as your str is really weak, but give it a shot heh.

Stick with sniper spec for NF, there's going to be alot of keep action and you'll probably spend the whole day without using your sword. After a couple of months, respec depending on how the game turns out!

Totally agreed, if you need to melee then chances are you will die anyway, melee is not what scouts are about. Better to have maxed bow damage for doing what scouts do best which is hit hard from range.

you get single-line respec at lvl40, could change thrust to slash then.. if you've not levelled past already

2nd'd or is it 3rd'd now... 50 bow, 42 shield, 36 stealth (will respec as RR goes up) and rest thrust, which is at least 15 for the 6sec stun style that chains off block

Never for one minute would i go below 50longbow

Now thats sorted, i've bought a full respec (yes, i didnt read that i get a free one ) and i've repsecc'd to slash.

Will go 50 longbow, 29 slash, 29 stealth, 42 shield.

At a low rr (which i am) this might not seem sensible with low stealth, so i can always respec out (as i'll be 50 by NF). Maybe then to respec when rr6 or so.

Will try for now with battler etc, and go back to thrust if needs be.

And as for watching this movie, with a 5L4 scout with battler styling for 300-350, she was able to take down a sb without using her bow

That reminds me ... Does anyone know an active level 50 highlander scout?

go 50 slash, 42 shield, 30ish bow and low stealth (just get mos to be able to see assassins.) At a decent realmrank this could be an assassinkiller

Then again if you want an assassin killer .. just make another assassin

carp is the most active I know. And afaik he's 50 slash with ssa 4.4 speed

Think all of you are missing the point, i have +25 dex cap, +10 dex at start, aug dex ra's, capped 250 quickness, lvl 50 bb, i *will* have near enough, and over 400 dex. I have 50 longbow, with fool's bow / immolated. I am 50 longbow. Who said im not making the most of the bow?

The only reason i made this thread, was to see how good a saracen would be at slash. Yes, after watching the movie of that scout, i saw that if i could hit for at least 200 with slash, compared to a panzy thrust, why not go slash, then i would be able to maximise my skills as a sniper, and still have a BACKUP strategy of using battler, and being ''ok'' in melee. So stop having a go at me and read my posts before you moan that im not trying to be a scout?

You know, scouts are the only class who can spec 1h + shield and stealth at the same time.. if someone wanted to be high shield spec and melee with stealth.. how could they do it without being a scout?! Just assuming you *have* to spec high bow because you're a scout is quite narrow minded >< Classes are given multiple spec lines for a reason, that reason is not so that they can all spec the same one. Also, tests indicate anything over 27 bow (for last crit shot) already does quite nice ranged damage, you don't require 50 bow at all, while higher bow helps your damage a bit, it's not critical, you won't be completely gimped at range with below 50 bow

I was 50 shield and 30 bow for a couple of months .. still oneshot unbuffed casters and 2 shot buffed casters ... yes damage is less steady but it was plenty .. and with the higher melee and silly shield + dex I was hard to kill in pure melee. Also high shield and melee actually makes a LOT of sense in PvE .. ~420 dex, 50 + 15 shield and mob3 makes for one funny blockbot... add to that a little dodger and rolling a skirtboy and meleescouts are quite viable ...

If you are willing (and mentally capable) to think out of the box

seriously 400 dex and u choose a str weapon lollish good luck to u just cause someone hits 300 dmg doesnt mean shit be trusth spec and use freaking heat lws and cold and u hit for 400-500
