OK, new phone time.
Both the above are now free on various contracts (getting contract, don't want to pay/pay much for the phone).

I want a flippy one - it took long enough to persuafe myself out of getting a new "Schlocky" one - and I'd like it in silver :D
... and I'd like it to work for at least a year.

Anyone got one of these?
Both say they do various "data" functions either by infra red or cable.. does this mean anything?

Thanks

cable / i/r

Most phones you get nowadays have i/r.

This means that you can easilyupdate your mobile (dates/ contacts etc) directly from your PC (as long as it has I/R)

You can also exchange your details with another phone through IR - as long as you both have it.

The alternative is a cradle or cable linking phones / pcs

<edit>
Used a Motorola (Timeport 280) for the last 2 weeks and it was damn fine. Easy menus- addiitional functions (over and above my own phone) Triband ready, voice activated etc etc.

Parents have a Samsung and I find the menus to be tricky. (unless Samsung have changed since then)

Hmm thanks.

The only thing i have heard about the V66 is that aparently when you flip it up it takes the call, but since it doesn't have a screen on the front you can't see who's calling first...

Is this true? And if so is it as really really irritating as I think it might be?

A mate of mine had a V66 for 2 weeks then exchanged it for an Ericsson T39. Shows you how shit the V66 is :( I'd go for the A300 personally, altho im trying to sort out an upgrade at the moment myself. Will prolly go for a Sony Z7 as I only want summat cheap to prolong the life of my 7110.

I dropped my 7110 down the stairs.

Not a scratch.

Well, maybe a scratch.. but no serious damage.

I had the Samsung and I thought it was shite, I've also had a Motorola and I thought that was shite as well, I've gotta say I've only ever been happy with my Nokia(8210).

The Samsung was crap for texting and the text alert tone doesn't just beep then stop it keeps beeping untill you read the message you got, also the keys hurt me lickle thumbs, and what is the point of seeing whos calling, its just a gimmick which you get on every phone if you just look at the screen.

The flip answer option can be disabled on the v66 so it doesn't receive the call untill you press a button, but the menu layout on them is crap.

If you can, buy a Nokia or a Sony(although me mates broke within a week), the Sony's at least have the nice looks and ring tones, and the Nokia's are a doddle to use.

Samsungs shite for everything, menus are hirrendous. V66's inability to check who is calling is annoying, but cant you deactivate answer on flip? I'd personally get one of the new nokias, got an 8310 myself and am very satisfied with it.
