Salamanders not being able to be charmed with NF?

As title says , anyone know if there is any truth in this? if this the case i had better figure out another way of making money!! lol

I charmed a Sala on NF/Gorre, so I see no reason why not in the live patch that this should change. Also, this would have been bought up on VN boards ages ago if such a statement was true about not being able to charm a sala.

According to people on US, you can still charm salas in 1.72, so I see no reason you won't be able to in 1.70.

For tanking Salamander > all. The rumours about their HP being nerfed are untrue.

For damage some of the centaur mobs are about as good as it gets. They can't tank half as well as a salamander though.

Maybe if you're a minstrel who can charm a level 60 and has spec AF buff available, but for those of us in hibernia salamanders are as good as it gets.

its bloody difficult to keep a lvl 60 pet under control. im only rr4 with my mincer, but full +instruments, and id say at a guess that charm only works on lvl60 mobs 1 in 20 times. 58's however, are piss easy to control

actually afaik mentas can charm RED mobs, ive seen it, from what i heard your direct +spec affects the level of charm.. so surely its possible to charm a lvl 60 pet?

Is the formula for menta charm afaik..ran it thru with a rr11 ment with 50+21 light...he can hold a L56 mob 100%(in theory) but im not sure what would happen if he tried a L60 mob.

You're not wrong Dracus. Also very few ments spec 50 light, while many minstrels spec 50 instru.
The main difference is a minstrel can spam charm if the mob is being a bit wayward as it's an insta. Mentalist charm is 3s cast so you can't spam it on troublesome mobs. This makes minstrels somewhat better at holding red pets.
Personally at 46 spec and RR6, I don't usually use anything over a level 53 pet, the risk is just too high.

Sally's are only good tank cause they got laods of hp.

Centaur's have higher AF, so healing-wise they'd need less in the long run.

Also Centaur Lookout have a really nasty nuke that's quite nice.

The L60 mins that did chimera with a bot used a Centaur Warrior.
