S/S Pally Templates + item questions - any improvements?

All templates use GoV+WH+MS+Malice+SoM+EDS artis.

Doing a bit of both solo and group RvR, current spec is currently 39 slash/42 shield/44 (or was it 48?) chants/rest parry but subject to weekly change;)

Temp 1, uses CB + ML7.7 shield:

First question is, how good is the Magma Infused Defender's heal proc (with regard to soloing)? Does it go off alot, has it made the difference in any fights you've had, or is a player crafted one just as viable?

Second question, anyone got a website to check swing speed calculations? The one I use on Spydor's website gives a required 238 qui to cap a 4.1 spd Malice using the 37% celerity + 10% TOA haste at 1.5sec swing speed, but I just want to check I've using the right numbers before I commit to a template or whether I can get away with less QUI and so up my resists.

Hmm the 1rst thing i notice is your low dex wich means less blocking therefore less heal procing from ml7 shield

Good points about the dex, if I drop the WH, I can shift some items around and push the dex up to 94 with not much else degrading, but the cost becomes a little prohibitive as the belt + both rings alone are 100p+ on the current CM prices which is just too rich for me atm.

and it means no lubbly WH /use2 for 1v2+ fights :(

Any other combinations (i.e. trying to get Moirai Bracers in there) seem to drop the utility considerably. Might be worth it though, not sure.

edit: TOA utility in the last one is 312, not 362, as I don't include the cast speed/spell range utility from GoV/Ring of Torrent.

EDS that much utility? i would rather put another thing with more util on that slot, but if you want to solo WH does come in handy...

The only artifacts you need for a solo Paladin are:

GOV
Battler
Malice
SoM

I have found it exceptionally difficult to fit either MS or WH into any of my Paladin templates so have just given up.

As a solo Paladin, you really ought to spec Warlord. With Battler and WarGuard active you really will be difficult to beat in a straight melee 1v1.

I'd recommend a minimum of 95 Str and Dex in your template, and don't forget Qui either.

Not really played a pally much.. i'd not go without MS tho WH i really don't care about its over rated anyway.. but ms i'd keep all the time :/ proc rocks on it to much to lose
