OK new forum new start, lets draw a line under the aborted keep raid yesterday. No accusations just some observations.
Communication, communication, communication
That appears to be the bottom line if we want to look at what went wrong and if we want more success in the future. We set out with high hopes a huge gathering of the heroes of Midgard. Confidence too quickly turned to frustration when a sizeable part of the army lost contact with the main body. People then began to drift away or go for separate objectives, the focus became lost.
There is a real mix of players young, mature, patient and impatient. Raid leaders have to accept this and provide enough information and direction through out the raid to keep the players on board. It does not have to be a grand strategic treatise, simple objectives, directions etc. We know there will be people who get split from the main warband, so people should be designated at the start who can provide status updates. These can be different from the raid leaders themselves for obvious reasons.
I was with the group stuck on the hill which then wandered off and was killed. After releasing I managed to get back with a group and rejoin the main army, because I was getting updates from a friend with the main body.
From what I saw the keep raids worked very well, maybe some could have been quicker had we siege weapons, perhaps they were being saved for the Relic keep that I don't know. It became obvious that the Relic Keeps were not achievable as too many people had drifted away. That need not have been the case had some simple way of providing information been available.
Well that's my take on things:
