Got to lvl 20 a few days ago so have been playing a bit in the battlegrounds. I've managed to get myself 30 odd realm points but need a bit of advice. Basicaly the group i was in kept getting done by group mezz then the stealthers poisoning us, whats the best way to get round this or is this a sign of things to come?

Lo, :D

My 2'ps

Firstly id recommend you get to lvl 24 (at least others will con yellow or below to you in the main) get some nice player crafter armour weaps etc, that might help a little.

What is your class btw?

As for advice, where to start. You have experienced the 'joys' of Thid. Get mezzed, get PA'd. Id just get used to that :(

However to try and reduce stealther attacks, DONT STAND STILL!!! keep moving, turn often, go 'Crazy Ivan', dont run in straight lines for periods of time, Trust me it helps. If you must sit, try and do it where your stealthers can guard you, or somewhere nice and safe i.e. your PK, or if there is someone who can PBaoe.

As for mezz get your resists up with items if you can, not fool proof but the odd resists can be a life saver. OR stay away from group mezzers :p

There are lots of good advice you can get, it kinda depends on your class (are you a stealther for instance?). Watch others of your class and see how/what they do.

Keep a look out for Ziron a cabbie, comming to a Battleground near you soon ... Fear my Nearsight!

good hunting.

I'm a friar so generally hang back a little but can often be seen cracking heads with my new 10.5 dmg staff :). You've just reminded me that most of my armour is green so time for me to get crafting. What sort of resist items will i need to resist mez?

I am planning on getting to 23 before returning though and hopefuly i'll manage to sneak a few quests in too so i'll have better items.

Depends who is mezzing.
Bards and healers are body resist. Light eldritches are cold resist. SMs are spirit resist as are mentalists atm, though ments change to energy next patch.

After my 4th visit i've come to the conclusion that Hibbies are too scared to go there and Middies have far too many 24's.

On a plus, from 1.52:

- We have alleviated some of the frustration of being mesmerized in combat by giving special "cure mez" spells to some casting classes. Judicious use of these spells will mean that you will be mezzed far less often than before.

Actually most of the peeps that hang around in BG1 is peeps with lvl 50 chars who are very tweaked..with full set DF stuff etc...but hmmm as friar, donno that classs very well, but I suggest hang around in the back healing tanks maybe and do some HAIIIIAAA ninja styles on the stealthers that PA you :D

hint: get +hp items and cap you're con. with my BG1 lurikeep mage I had up to 430 hp at lvl 24

The BG1 can be fun but can also be a real ball-ache with all the twinked characters knocking about.

I used to be guilty of having an infiltrator (yes, another one!) but often he could be found at the rear guarding the healers/mages. I suggest you find one of them and stick with him:)

Unfortunately i've only ever seen 2 proper tanks fighting for us in RVR so far, there have been a few pallys but no real damage doers so we tend to get wiped out pretty quickly.

Tanks aren't damage dealers. That's your casters. Tanks take hits and interrupt the enemy casters.

Also cure mez spells are too high for BG1 afaik.

Sorry mis wrote that, i did mean to write somone who can take a hit and hit hard too but went a bit of track :).

Tis a shame about the cancel mez though :(.

That'll be why 80% of Armsman walk around waving those ridiculous poles then eh :p

They're deluded... they think they are made to do damage, when everyone knows casters do the real damage.

As me little Kobbie skald is in the BG now
heres a middie perspective for you.

ALBS.
Still Zerg don't understand CC and its beauty

HIBS.
Understand CC and Nuke like hell

MIDS.
Understand CC up to the point of the red mist of CHARGE!!!

But in all realms there are some of us that try things differently.

The trouble with the BG is everyone is doing there own thing usually. TBH, when I used to go the most organised group seemed to be the mids. They ambushed, used CC properly and protected healers/casters with their stealthers. Their tanks rarely feared a charge either. Respect to Mids in BG (apart from the nobs that would spam emote but I killed all them with my infiltrator Burp:)).

Actually it's so they can go up to young female clerics and leer suggestively as they say "look at my big weapon, do you want to hold it?" :p
