RPC server?

Got windows xp and last night tried to connect up a printer, wont install it as it says the RPC server is unavailible. Also if i try to add a printer from control panel it just says operation could not be completed.

Anyone know how to correct this problem so i can connect up a printer?

I had that... i had to refil the colour ink cartridge. No idea why it solved it, but it worked.

This is a new printer new cartridges and everything etc.

XP is becoming a true pain for me ;p

Have you been turning off any 'unnecesary services' at all?

This link implies that the Spooler service might be off, or possibly the Remote Procedure Service itself,

And there seems to be some discussion of a problem similar to yours here, (though I have my network setup up here to block access to ms sites - paranoia - so can't look at it properly until I get to work.)
