I think thats taking conspiracy theory a bit too far.

Good luck and happines to them, such as they can get in constant media spotlight.

Excellent! An extra day off work next year.

Surely the father of the bride will be footing the bill?

BBC news made me lol. Interviewing troops at camp bastion about it. WTF.

That said, the para they interviewed was top drawer. Bull-necked, broad shouldered, sleeves rolled up above the elbows, tattooed forearms like tree trunks. (moustache optional)

That image alone makes us superior to all other fighting forces.

Is there a day that doesn't involve some bullcrap about terrorist this or terrorist that?

Terrorist is the hype word of the decade.

I'm usually as cynical as the next person, but I don't agree with your view ilaya. There would have been a schedule behind the scenes for when this announcement would be made, even if it was simply to make sure that Kate was properly coached on handling the media scrutiny.

My cynicism went as far as questioning why he gave her his mum's engagement ring. In the end I decided that she chose the blue dress specifically to go with the ring. :)

I'm pleased that they've taken the plunge. They seem to make a good couple and I wish them every happiness.

Why watch it all day then? Watch something different! :p
And Sky News is dire and it seems to be getting worse. It's become sensationalist...can't stand it.

Ah come on, let them have their moment of happiness.

It's about time the country had some genuine good news that people can smile about, and I wish them all the best.

I wish them all the very best. They make a lovely couple. He's a strapping good-looking fella, she's very pretty & obviously nuts about him. It would be nice to get some royalty with dignity & gravitas for once, rather than the national disgrace that is Fergy. One thing's for certain - the media are having a field day - and she's now going to be the most photographed & talked about woman on the planet.

How wrong can you be in one sentence?

I think in that sentence, he can only be wrong about one word; fox.

That word then becomes a matter of opinion on the quality of said network, so not really that wrong at all :p

I'm just glad to see some national news that isn't doom, gloom and we're all going to be unemployed and dead in short order.

Why?

They both over dramatise stuff.
Neither research anything properly.
Both have a political agenda.
Both have useless news readers.
Both have brain-dead viewers, who are willing to accept whatever they are told.
Both recycle the same stories over and over again with no real content.

And they're both owned by Rupert Murdoch.

When she is alone she screams at the mirror "YOU'RE GOING TO BE THE FUCKING QUEEN" over and over.

At least, that is what I like to imagine.

There will be no extra public holidays, it'll be held on a Saturday.

Not sure why anyone would be happy to see their tax money wasted in this fashion, but some people seem to think the monarchy isn't a pointless waste of people and money.

Actually it generates more in tourism than it costs so it's a net +

My main objection is why the fuck are we funding hereditary millionaires for life it seems a little stupid.

We aren't.

Whilst it's something of a grey area, there is a difference between Elizabeth Windsor's private and personal wealth and the wealth that is held in trust by the Crown on behalf of the nation.

For example, she can't just sell Buckingham Palace - it's not hers to sell.

We should just get a figurehead Pres instead. I'd like to see someone like Eddie Izzard as President of the UK.

I will laugh if the monarchy gets binned before she ever gets to be Queen.

I'm always suspicious when people trot out this line. The French get more tourists than us and they knocked off their royals 200 years ago. Would London really get fewer tourists if the royals didn't exist? After all, the buildings would all still be there, and that's all anyone ever sees of the Royals anyway.

The official announcement last night was shocking re: the amount of photography and flash that went on. It was a constant barrage, trying to capture every single gesture and emotion. I thought they did well to answer the questions thrown at them without collapsing to the floor and fitting tbh.

I know they're just "doing their jobs" but it's one side of photography I really despise.

What else has it got going for it, that isn't done better elsewhere?
