(I hope it formats right)

Seems like the router at 194.68.128.86 is the source of problems. Same IP has the first sign of packet loss when tracerouting from another network in Finland. It's not causing many LDs ("only" 3 yesterday) but it's gives a nasty latency of 3-10 seconds when trying to do something (but not always, lag comes in bursts).

Also seen a lot of people complaining about lag in game for the last two days. This has been going on since 28th and been about same all the time.

Kemor dons ninja-suit and grabs his swords, backflips out the window of the GOA offices.

Stealthily he makes his way through the blustering city of paris... sneaking aboard a train he blends silently into the busy burble of the commuters.

Reaching his destination, he climbs up the side of the opentransit building and climbs in through an unlocked 6th floor window.

KIIIAA! he screams as he karate-chops the sysadmin/cleaninglady/whoever responsible.

Quickly drawing his katana and slicing in a wide arc he removes the pointy hair from aforementioned person's boss.

Plugging back in the required network cable, and giving the server a quick reboot he slips off into the night....

Edit: tidied up to improve dramatic effect

I could be wrong but I dont think all people commuting in Paris wear ninja suits with swords on their back ;)

They don't, but they are busy, allowing me sneak between them all unnoticed!

However, my KIAA attack failed miserably because of this:
| 130.233.231.233 - 45 | 510 | 285 | 0 | 3 | 371 | 0 |

Problems seem to start with hut.fi, and echoing further in the tracert.

Hmm...
Finland's a bit of a trek as the ninja sneaks - might have to find another saviour for Sarnat.

Humm, I'm having no trouble until getting to the same point as Sarnat (the NORDUnet <-> Opentransit crossover)... And yes, connection to the servers has been horrible for two days now. And yes, I'm inside FUNET too.

Kemor, like I mentioned, that is not causing lag to other people. I don't know what router that it is or why it has so high PL but note that I do not have any PL to routers/whatever AFTER that one (untill 194.68.128.86). Neither do other people. That would suggest that the router at 194.68.128.86 is the source of the problem.

Yeah I keep hearing it from many Swedes and Finns on IRC. Some other people could post their traceroutes, maybe Kemor will take it seriously after that ;P

A tad wide, but readable at least now... Seems the peering point doesn't answer to normal ping (and it shouldn't), but anyway, that's what the problem looks from my viewpoint. Something amiss at NORDUnet <-> Opentransit peering.

Well if a router closer to you is flaky it'll show up on all the other pings...

if it's intermittent it might not show up on all...

But looks like that other one is also borked :)

as part of Bush's campaign against lag on the internet he have decided to invade the router 194.68.128.86. In a top summit he concluded that this router is part of an international network of routers that uphold something called the internet, the internet is suspected to have spread porn and anti-american propaganda in the free world. the UN have still found no evidence of the internet, UK prime minister Tony Blair will however aid the US in this campaign by deploying nuclear weapons against the internet. When asked if that whouldnt be too hard for the german civilian population Blair replyed: " No, we will use strategical weaponry only, this missiles are only on a few megaton and as i understand it will only take out the target and a few nearby citys". Whoever is to be installed as a german dictator is yet to be decided, Bush have however guaranteed that it will be someone democraticly elected by him and lockheed martin.

Right, now I'm getting routed thru Sprintlink (and London route) to Opentransit and the lag is lot less. Thank you! Still some occasional high ping spikes and some packet loss, but that's only to be expected.
