Rocket Arena 3 Probs

Rocket Arena 3 as u all know is the best mod for Q3 so far.
I have a big problem tho. Since upgrading Q3 to the latest version and also upgrading RA3 to the latest beta version i cannot seem to get the right gfx/sound configeration i want. I change my gfx settings in system and then after pressing ok, it reloads the map but seems to have gone back to the last seetings. the same for sound. I cannot use high quality sound because it just goes back to Low Quality after restarting the map. Any ideas?

Iceman, one of the moderators over on the Jolt forums has reported that, in his words, there is "...the stupid bug that loads q3config.cfg last so I've had to play a bit of the old 'read-only' trick to make my setup stay saved properly..."

I think what he's saying is that there's a bug in 1.27g that loads the config last so it gets overwritten and to get round it he made his q3config.cfg read-only once he got the setup he wanted.

The other thing you could try is to create an autoexec.cfg with the settings you want so they are loaded in at the start.

I had some similar problems with graphic quality settings at first but it seemed to sort itself after two or three gos.

Guys another problem Ive had in Ra3 aside from this is the mp3 player - I have selected the setting "Dont play during match" as I have had it for the past several months, but the thing keeps playing mp3's during the game. Arrrgghhh its driving me bonkers.

Is this setting completely b0rked in the beta or is it just me?

Ah! Just the thread

I've upgraded to G and patched RA3 and have had a few games on our own server and jolt servers, so I know the upgrade went ok, but ......... when I try to connect to BW RA3 servers, autodownload kicks in and starts downloading maps :/ Are there new maps on the servers now, or is this some other problem?

Yes chameleon m8, the bw servers are using maps which (I think, becos I wusnt involved in it) were used in the BWRA3 leagues. IF you go to ftp.barrysworld.com/quake3/maps you will find them. Strange thing is, there was no notification on the BW updates page to say this, and Im not even sure if they are in the map rotations, cos last night they werent??

@ Chameleon; that's another of the 1.27g bugs. You need to turn off autodownloads in your q3config.cfg. The line is:

seta cl_allowDownload "0"

Alternatively, put this line into an autoexec.cfg file

@ Quorthon; soz I don't know for sure the command/s to turn off mp3s in the config. Maybe someone else can answer.

It might be one or all of these:

seta s_musicvolume "0.0"
seta in_mididevice "0"
seta in_midichannel "1"
seta in_midiport "1"
seta in_midi "0"

I have it set to 'Always Play' and it doesn't play them, try selecting that?

Seems the G patch has sent cfg's bonkers with a lot of things. How do ID manage to do something like this everytime!!!?

Damn patches drive me crazy. It all seemed fine to me, then they bring out a super-duper new patch ........... and everything turns to s***!

I know the feeling chameleon m8, Im hoping that some of Requiems comments elsewhere on this board will help me - otherwise I cant help but feel that nvidia had a hand in this patch :/

BTW Fragem, the actual cvar that controls the mp3 play is one called mp3_playmode, I knew this but selecting the supposedly proper variable isnt giving me the right result.

Sturty m8, I dont know if your wink is a resigned one or not, so forgive if this is a stupid question, but does that setting play during breaks, but nothing during the game?

I have to say overall that I havent been as frustrated playing this game since..since....since I cant actually remember.

Ah I see what I did! I read the q3config.cfg in baseq3 instead of the one in Arena! (oops)
